Hi all!
Okay, so I am looking for, I hate to say this, but the cheapest knives that are perfect for hunting! The reason I say cheap, is because my father is looking at some not so great quality knives, and I am wanting to change his direction to okay quality cheap knives. We have no $$$ for the knives that we all want unfortunately. But! Can you guys recommend cheaper decent hunting knives? I appreciate the help!

What's your budget ?
The buck 110 has been carried by generations of hunters since 1964 and is widely available for under 30$ ( go to your local Walmart ) buck also has their packlite model fixed blade in the 20$ range and sometimes even available with an additional guthook tool for the same price.
Mora knives would make great hunting knives and start at 10$ depending on the model.

These are the knives I was thinking of too hah! I have not heard of the packlite one though ill check that out. Thanks

As for the budget, There is a knife set of 4 knives from browning that would cost him $35. So something similar in the range.

You may or not have seen the packlite before, it's an orange skeletal handled fixed blade that's also available in a trio set though I'm not sure how much that costs.

Mora makes good fixed blades for that price for both bushcraft and hunting

I hunt whitetail deer among other things. As a inexpensive knife company I've found it hard to beat Schrade. Hth

The lowest price on a quality knife I've found for deer hunting, and one that would work on small game and fish too, is the Mora Companion. The grip is comfortable, and the blade will work well for field-dressing, skinning and butchering a deer. In the mid-$20 range, the Marttiini Condor series of knives are great. At around $30, as mentioned, you can get a Buck 110. I like mine. If you want a "perfect" knife for hunting, and you can swing around $50, the Buck Vanguard can't be beat in the rubber grip model. However, as good as the Vanguard is, the Mora will work as well.

Can't go wrong with a mora companion. Best thing is, you lose it, it will not hurt the wallet that much.

Mora Companion line in both carbon steel and stainless steel.

Buck Omni Hunter and PakLite lines.

Here are a few brands that come to mind:

-Moras, there's good reason for almost every single post recommending them. Decent quality, fantastic price.

-Cold Steel has some very good offerings at low prices as well.

-Svord makes a couple of good all around fixed blades.

-Condor also has some excellent designs that aren't expensive.

The new productions of shrade sharpfinger is surprisingly really impressive for the money once you put a real edge on it.

I agree with the buck 110 or for a fixed blade the Buck 102. Time tested and very affordable American made goodness. Heck being a older gentleman he probably would really appreciate it or even has had one at some point.

You know what's funny, is I've been on this forum for a few years and that question pops up a lot, and I thought I always knew a few good options.
Then lately I've been looking at a lot of hunters pages on Instagram, mostly archery guys, and 90% of the time they use those Havalon knives with the disposable blades
We're talking guys with $1000+ bows or rifles, and a cheap $35 disposable blade knife... too funny.
That being said I'm sure many a deer have been dressed with a Buck,, Mora would be great too
