Hunting Photos 2017

Stuck this booger from my ground blind last weekend. He was on two doe, but stopped long enough for me to draw on him.

Thanks , even with that shot and him having no idea I was there , he ran nearly a 100yrds before dropping.
My cousin joked that he was so old he couldn't see or smell anymore and that's the reason I got him.
I said well , he came in with a cane and a seeing eye dog....lol
All joking aside , I had 5 decent bucks around me that evening. One dandy 8pt never gave me a shot. It was well within range but always in brush and would have been a risky shot. No sense wounding one. They were very responsive to rattling. I rattled to try and get the bigger 8pt to come back and this old boy came from the other direction. Walked right up to my doe wick to have a little smell and gave me the perfect shot. When I first noticed him , he was already wide open to me on his approach from my left. I didn't dare stand up. I am sure I looked like a turd hanging on the side of the tree.
I stayed still and when he stopped I was able to draw my bow while seated. The lone wolf climber I use leaves nothing in front to hit the bow. Drawing a 70lb bow while seated feels more like a 100lb bow....lol
Burnt Stag.

Someday I'm going to try a hunt from a treestand. I've never done that. It's all big country here, so I spend a lot of time behind the glasses and then put a sneak on if you can keep on one until he's bedded. I took this buck last week while we were glassing for muledeer bucks. Seemed an unlikely spot for whitetail, but there he was and I had a tag in my pocket. He made me work for it though, it's steeper than you can get a feel for in the picture.

Friend of mine shot him. I had no love this year in MN or WI, nine days in the field between the two states and I didn't see any shooters. I did get to use my Rat Trail on this buck, drag him up a ravine, and load him in a truck for my buddy so I was able to partake in the after shot actions anyway.

Had a group of 23 turkeys come within 15 yards.
