Can someone give me some advice on the Tac tool or maybe the Becker Machax? Or if BK&T or KaBar makes something similar. I am in the market for this type of knife. Pro and cons welcome.

THX!

I dont own a bk3, but i have used one quite a bit for a variety of task. And It depends on what your wanting it for. For an emergency tool, or to take apart a car, like it was designed for, it will work great. In the woods it will still function as a knife but some of the features get in the way more than they are good in the woods. The paracord cutter gets in the way when batooning and the serrations are about pointless in the wilderness. I now carry an ontario sp8 in the woods, and my buddy with the bk3 always asks to use my sp8 when proccessing firewood. the blade is longer and the back doesnt prevent batooning. but in an emergency situation involving a car then id want the bk3.

I'll check it out. I was also looking at the ZK Zombie Killer Chop Stick. I am needing a chopper. I don't batton wood (I have an axe). I want a small chopper.

The machax is an entirely different knife in a complete different class meant for way different things. :)

Machete/axe = Machax while the bk3 is extraction tool. If your wanting to cut firewood or clear brush then the machax is way more suitable to your needs than the bk3, if your wanting an extraction tool for your car than go bk3.
If your wanting an overall do everything hardcore long fixed blade knife then perhaps look at the bk9. the bk4 / machax will be great at cutting and clearing but the bk9 is more a knife than a machete and can be used more like one. thats my feelings on the situation anyway :)

Oh you should of just ask for chopper advice :)

Well here the advice stays quite consistent.....BK9 is king.

Condor pack golok for a cheap chopper
BK9 for a mid/low proced chopper (at the gathering, the BK9 chopped through the maple log faster than the BK4)
Junglas or 1311 for mid/high priced chopper
M18 for high price. :D

The BK-3 is a great chopper. The weight and chisel grind is great. You can go through a 1in in one swipe too

would be better if the chisel was set up for those of us in our right mind...
just sayin'. :D

I like the BK3. If it is anything close to the knife my BK2 is--I KNOW I will like it!

the bk3 is king of batoning, gotta say, it's a brute

You knew it was coming...

I really like hearing discussions about the BK3, as it really interests me. I dont own one....yet, but from reading a little on here and on the net, etc, doesnt seem like the BK3 gets that much press, like other BKT products.

That video really wasn't that impressive. The guy prying by hand did most of the damage.

Actually made me think less of the knife, as it clearly shows that cutout is a weak spot.

The fireman was using the seatbelt cutter for a purpose for which it was not designed--to try and pry a door pin off a car. Don't pry door pins off of cars and you'll be fine. :D

I don't know if you've seen this before, or not..............

IMO,the 3 is a more useful knife than the 2. Of course, I know that's not the consensus around here.

And even broken, we still cut a roof flap, hood flap, and cut out a windshield.

In case you didn't make it to the Korn portion of the vid.

Yeah, we broke it prying on a Nader Pin, most cases, hell, no cases would require that. We was just seeing what it would take. Time in defeating the door lock, 1:37 min. Time to defeat the Nader lock, 3 minutes. Gkass breach, 3 sec.

We still train today with them, and we're getting faster all the time.
