I Blame Emojis For The Impending Death Of Conversation!
If "A picture is worth a thousand words", then an emoji is worth about 10!
In all honesty, I actually kinda like the stupid things and use them quite often when I post in order to highlight the mood or intent of what I'm writing.
However, I currently find myself using them, more and more, instead of words!
I can end any text conversation I'm in or don't want to get in, with a simple "Thumbs Up"
or "Laughing"
emoji.
Unfortunately, I find myself doing this more and more on the forums.
I stick an emoji at the bottom of someone's post or pic and walk away feeling very confident that I've said everything that needed to be said!
I imagine that I'm like a gunslinger in the Old West!!! . . . I take my shot and walk away victorious! . . . Unfortunately, it turns out that I'm sooo lazy, I forget to load my gun, and instead, I just yell, "BANG" and hope that it all works out! . . . In a way, I suppose, that makes me an emoji-slinger which is kinda like a gunslinger, but with far less time spent in prison!
I sort of liken this new trend to going to a party where no one speaks to each other but instead only attempt to communicate with peace signs, fist bumps, and lots of thumbs up!
This isn't sign language, it's "emojis gone wild" language! The problem is that it makes for a boring party and nobody wants to hang around for very long!
I now stand here in front of you, (I'm actually sitting but it seems much more dramatic to say that I'm standing) and pledge to try much harder to reduce my use of emojis in place of words and sentences.

(Somebody save me!)
I look forward to engaging in many more discussions with the use of actual words, with emojis only being used to highlight!
So, please accept my apoloji. (That's comedy gold right there my friends!)
Let's Drink!
. . . . (I use the "Cool" emoji here because I like my whiskey over ice, and that makes it "Cool")
Jerry
. . . . (I use the "Crazy Happy" emoji here because drinking makes me "Crazy Happy")
