I found a very easy way to get tape residue off knives.

Dip the blade in boiling water for a few seconds (you don't have to boil water specifically for this purpose but wait until you're boiling an egg or something) after that the residue will wipe right off with a napkin.

The water on my faucet gets hot enough to do this. Comes right off.

Most any oil will do if you dont have access to hot water, including the body oil from your person.

And the best oil is from the skin of your nose. I'm not joking. I *think* I learned this trick from CrimsonTideShooter, although I might be wrong about that. The oil from your nose is different from the oil from any other part of your body. Rub your finger over your nose, and then rub the tape residue until it comes off. Then wipe down with the hem of your shirt, and your knife will be good as new.

Rick from the American Restorations show says to use oil from your forehead.

I have used rubbing alcohol but I think light oil would be even better since it would offer some protection.

Nose oil is a great trick! Plus---- it's readily available and free lol

I have used window cleaner to clear glue residue many times. Its usually a 2 parts water to 1 part windex solution.
