So i just placed it on order this is it's history below:
The UDT (Underwater Demolition Team) knife was introduced by Anthony Marfione over 20 years ago. This is the larger version or LUDT in his line of UDT automatic knives. The 3.4 inch blade is perfect for EDC use. All hardware is stainless steel including pocket clip.

Looks very cool. Microtech occupies a strange space for me in my relationship with knives. I generally disdain anything that is as melodramatically tactical as many of their designs, and I tend to shy away from companies with reputations for poor CS or QC inconsistencies. If I hear about a known issue or horrible design choice, I get turned off. I hate gaudy designs, as a rule. I dislike bead blast finishes.

Yet, I will always have this beast, which breaks damn near every criteria I have for loving or buying a knife:

It’s huge. Proprietary hardware. Too much money for S30V. Bead blast. The blade is too thick, and the grind makes it fat. The pocket clip was every bit as terrible and painful in hand as advertised (I’ve had it modified to fix it). It’s not a great flipper (it opens consistently, but isn’t especially smooth or fast, and the blade is heavy enough to try to keep the knife moving in hand after lock up). The materials are weird (aluminum handle, and those insets). It’s a Strider collab, so both of the names on the thing have sketchy reputations.

Somehow, it still makes me giddy. I loooooove the Strider shape, and that it’s a flipper.

All of this is to say, I frequently look at Microtech stuff that isn’t my style, at all. When I do, I often get weirdly turned on. That Sigil, too...

I sure understand about what you like about your flipper type knife, as i bought a ZT 456 it's large and it's heavy but it's a really good designed knife.

Microtech knives are by design knives to defend yourself, i have two OEF types, the LUDT will be my first auto side opening type.

I just got a new LUDT. I've bought and sold many of them but I keep coming back to it.

Dunno. I been a paid member for the last 10 years.

Those knives always look like they should slice pretty well (especially for a microtech). I wish it was legal to carry those where I lived, because I would in a heartbeat.

In 2016 our Governor after so many people were being arrested, for having an assisted open knife, and cops saying they are Auto's and there against our state laws.

She signed it into law all knives were legal for non felons to have and carry, even fixed blades can now be carried, i was working in the knife Dept. of a local sporting goods store we ordered Microtech knives and wam bam they were being sold as fast as we put them out.

I even started buying them and still am finding one i can't live without.
