I need an all around backpack that I can use for school(I'm a college student) and in the great outdoors.I really like Maxpedition's stuff it's very high quality and durable that will last many years. I was thinking the falcon 2, but it seems too small to put folders along with a book or two in. I travel fairly lightly so I don't need anything too large either I intend on also using this for the woods and no I don't go on long hikes in the mountains I live in Ohio if I'm out in the woods it's never more than a few hours. I'm looking to spend less than $150 any suggestions?

I'm thinking your best bet might be to find a local dealer and try to fit some stuff into different packs. At least then you know it will fit, and that it will ride properly.

I just bought a Kodiak S-Type Gearslinger (left-handed model, the S-Type) this week and it is really nice. It showed up yesterday actually. It is a single strap model but you can rotate it without taking it off and access everything. Great for mountain biking, too.

It got rave reviews everywhere and is slightly bigger than the Maxpedition Sitka, which got rave reviews also. I got a black one, but it comes in 6 different color schemes.

I recommend the Kodiac model after some research and then getting one. Mine was $145 shipped from Amazon, is made for CCW although that space also holds a water bladder for hiking.

Check it out. It will last you a long time, and at your age you'll get your money's worth.

Ben, my sons - now age 13 and 16 - for several years have each used the Maxpedition Condor II backback as school backpacks. It's a good "standard" size medium traditional backpack. How's that for a description? But they have beat these things to death and they still look almost new. Incredible. Plenty of room for multiple binders, folders and books. You want this one.

I decided to get a Swiss Gear IBEX it's a nice big backpack with lots of pockets, it has a nice metal handle, and can fit a 17" laptop. I think it will be better suited for school which will be it's primary use.

You won't find a MaxP backpack better designed or organized than the Rush 12 or 24.

The Rush series gets my vote. I don't much care for all the drama engulfing Maxpedition and their endeavors. I have a Swiss backpack for my laptop, cables, notebooks, etc. Holds all kinds of gear...all kindz...

Not a maxp but I just picked up a Grey Ghost Gear stealth op pack and it fits a book notebook and folder pretty well. I also use it for day hikes. If I need to bring the laptop it's a bit small though.

I just took a look. I think you got a good one. Lots of room and well organized.

Yeah I really like all the pockets especially the small one on top near the handle which by the way looks bulletproof and I saved a good chunk of money not buying a Maxpedition.

Smart young man. My advise would have been to run, not walk away from Maxpedition. Now I don't have too.
