I know this is off topic, but I need help urgently.

I was cutting my hair with a Conair razor and sometime when I turn my razor a certain way it makes this horrible, loud buzzing noise. I decided to use the power screw to fix it. Now it makes this horrible sound all the time. So now I'm afraid to put that razor on my head because of what might happen. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I can't leave the house with the way my hair is now. Thanks in advance.

The noise is coming from the moving clipper clattering against the stationary one. The solution is oil.

Turn the thing off, reset the power screw to where it was before the noise got worse. Next, find the little tube of oil that came with the clipper and oil all of the teeth of the stationary and moving clippers (obviously while it is still turned off). Turn the clipper back on and it should be fine. If you can't find the oil it came with, use mineral oil. Medium or heavy mineral oil is better than light, but any will do in a pinch. In the future, oil the clipper more frequently and you shouldn't have this problem.

Also try turning that screw in the opposite direction if you haven't tried that already.

I've got those clippers and averageguy is correct. You turned the screw the wrong way. Just turn it until it stops making the awful sound and then turn about a 1/8th turn more for good measure, but not too far. Also, don't over oil or it'll clog with goopy hairy mess. ;)

I've tried turning it to where the noise stops, but then it doesn't cut hair any more. I just want to get them back to normal so I can finish cutting my hair.

Hmmm. Must be jammed. Try sticking your tongue on it.

WAIT! (You only have two posts.) Don't. I'm kidding.

Take the blades off with two phillips screws, turn it on (and then stick your tongue on it ;) ) and see if it wiggles. Then turn it off and put the blades back on loosly and try it again. Slowly tighten the phillips screws trying it as you go. It might be a combination of the adjustment screw tension and blade tightness. Brush that sucker out too when you have it apart.

If that doesn't work have your sister cut your hair. ;)

Ok, I've fixed. Not only is the noise all gone, but even that weird noise is gone when I turned the clippers upside down. Thanks for everyone's help.

It was the tongue action wasn't it? ;)

LOL! I remember the first time this happened to me. i nearly jumped outta my skin when i heard the clatter!

i'm sure you figured it out on your own. just remember to oil your clippers often, and turn the screw as close as you can toward the clattering point without it actually making noise. i usually turn it until the racket starts up, and then slowly back it off just until it stops.
