I tried to cut through a piece of meat with a butter knife... It didn't work so good. I don't recommend.....

My girlfriend thinks that this is the type of conversations we have on this forum...

She just doesn't understand.

Weird someone should bring this up. I just asked why Butter Knives aren't sharpened. I told my mom I was going to sharpen them. She than said "Why? They cut butter just fine"

I remember looking at a set of expensive steak knives once at a mall knife store. I forget the exact price but it was something ridiculous. I told the guy at the store, "People who can afford to spend this much for a set of steak knives can afford to buy steak that doesn't require a steak knife to cut." I'm of the mind that if I can't cut it with my butter knife then it's not worth eating!

My butter knives have small serrations on them near the "point" rounded end. I have used them to cut cooked chicken and steak. the work just fine. I must have "TACTICAL" butter knives.:foot:

i wonder if i could put a good edge on a butter knife with the edge pro??

I don't see why you couldn't.

Now turning a Butter Knife into a Neck Knife is another thing.:D

Why would you want a sharp butter knife? One of the functions of the butter knife is to spread. I've always seen the butter knife as a table spatula. If I need to cut something, I'll get a sharp knife; if I need to spread butter (who'd a thunk it), I'll get a butter knife.

Not all knives need to be sharp to function.

Things to do:

1) Attempt to eat an entire steak with a butter knife.
2) Attempt to whittle hair with said butter knife afterward.

How about a new thread, Batoning, The Butter Knife way. :D

Or the one knife challenge, A year with just a Butter Knife. :D

The steel used in butter knives generally doesn't even harden because of composition. I sharpened one somewhat, but it was a lousy edge, shaves somewhat but it's just too soft.

My Butter Knife Home Defense System if I need to cut up a steak I have a set of Wustof steak knives.
