I came across a guy in Sheffield called Michael May who resides in an old place called Portland Works together with a bladesmith called Stuart Mitchell - they are both a bit good and they collaborate with the University of Sheffield and Outokumpu , a World Class stainless steel and powdered metallurgy manufacturer that supplies hundreds of Industries.

Here is the knife I ordered :

UTILITY KNIFE – YORKSHIRE OAK

  • O1 carbon steel with forced patina
  • Yorkshire oak scales
  • Brass cutler’s rivets
  • Full tang construction
  • Cutting edge: 155mm
  • Overall length: 280mm

This is another of Michael May`s utility knives which has a gorgeous patina IMHO.

Here is an example of Stu Mitchell`s work which looks drop-dead gorgeous to me and is much better than my Savernake bespoke caidao.
It is made of Swedish Damasteel DS93X damascus steel ( mix of PM RWL-34 and PMC27 - HRC 61 ), 925 sterling silver and ancient mammoth ivory.
If you`ve got to ask the price; you can`t afford it haha !
Michael May has only been making knives for about six years and Stuart Mitchell has been forging since he was ten years old !

Beautiful. Is that the same Stuart Mitchell from British Blades? He does excellent work.
