I have had Bucks knives for years, and this Buck 120 General Fixed Blade Knife is one of the best fixed blade knife I have ever used. The blade keeps an edge and the sheath is tough out of the box. Wow! I though it's going to be "okay" when I got it, but I have to tell you straight-out: You're going to be BLOWN AWAY by the beauty and the QUALITY of this knife. After roaming around in the wild in South East Asia with this piece for many years, I finally said that.
Buck 120 Knife is a great knife to own whether youre a hunter, survivalist or as a collector. Its design is like an artwork. Well worth the cost, once I own it, it's like they are giving them away.
Buck 120 General Fixed Blade Knife is light, and thus not as good at cutting branches, sawing through cables, and prying open metal containers. For most Western and Alaskan applications outdoor applications, as well as all water applications, the Buck is excellent. I have carried it in the Lao, Thainland, Cabodia, Philippine and many places in between. This is one of the best knife for my money. I realize Buck 120 was designed for S.E.A terrain one of the upset weather all over the world especially in the wild. Buck 120 Knife helped me to survive through rain forests, swamps, lakes, and rivers. It could help you to do the same, no doubt.
Hunting has been and remains a core tradition for Buck Knife. What began as one man's hope and determination, has now transformed buck 120 general, buck 120 reviewinto a legacy passed on by families everywhere. This group of classic hunting knives offers a functionality way ahead of its time, yet still performs without complaint today. Buck 120 General Fixed Blade Knife is a real beauty hunting knife. It is a great, light, outdoor knife for hunting. Its great for big game. The 440C stainless blade is virtually rustproof, and holds an edge very well. Although it was carried in Vietnam, it is not a modern military survival/tactical knife, for that application.
The blade is 7.25", Handle is 4.5". Black phenolic handle will crack if placed in a metal jaw vise unprotected. To replace handles I do this intentionally, but be warned. The steel, 420HC, is far superior to 440C, because the chromium carbides are far smaller in the 420HC so it both sharpens easier and holds an edge better than 440C. Give this knife RESPECT, sharpen it almost so that the top bevel touches the stone. Once sharp this knife will last GENERATIONS. Don't be put off by the long blade. It is really advantageous. Most knives don't have a long enough handle anyway!
This Knife is everything I was hoping it would be for a hunting knife. It has the weight and balance of a true quality American made product. Buck Knives 120 General fixed blade knife is 12" in overall length and weighs 10.9 oz. The General knife features a Cocobola Dymondwood handle with a brass finger guard and comes with a genuine leather sheath. The General, as with all Buck Knives, comes with Buck's forever Unconditional Lifetime Warranty.
The long blade enhances the exquisite appearance, while creating a hunting knife that makes de-boning a lot simpler. Exclusive, elite, and luxurious, Buck 120 General Knife remains an exceptional choice for a hunting knife or simply as a collectible. Either way, it is a conversation starter.

I realized the crescent tip makes the blade thinner with a sharper point. This shape provides good control for detail work and cutting in tight places. It is also well suited for intentional punctures like new holes in my belt, etc. While the point of the blade is effective for detail work, it's not as strong as the thicker points on drop points and skinners. For those who understand and like the basic bowie design, this is a good example. When used as a cutting tool, held blade down, the cross guard, mild finger grooves and bird's head pommel combine to keep the knife in place and the user safe. The Buck steel allows the concave bowie clip blade to be sharpened by those with the right equipment and skills. This is a large knife. With two sharpened edges it may be illegal in some areas.. The leather sheath is adequate for use on a belt only. There are no provisions for attaching it to a pack or web gear.
And for good reason, Buck did a fantastic job on build quality & gave the General 120 plenty of eye appeal. The gorgeous Cocobola Dymondwood grip sandwiched between the highly polished brass pommel & guard is enough to make any knife enthusiast eye's bug out ... add a massive 420HC blade to the scenario will surely make the price easily justifiable in anyone's eye. The finish and craftsmanship is nearly flawless.
buck 120 general, buck 120 reviewI bought this knife in 2011. The sheath doesn't have the top rivet over the threads like the older models, but it's not needed. It does have an inner plastic liner like the professional Swedish hunting knives. The sheath is made from nice tan leather that goes nice with the brass and wood in the handle. The leather sheath is very well done too. Buck has placed an internal removable nylon guide of sorts to help the blade glide into place .. or come out easy & I'm sure it will help this sheath live a long life. The leather smells wonderful & is a nice chocolate brown color, well sewn & much thicker than previous 120 sheaths. The sheath will also last forever.
This is simply the coolest knife I've ever owned, it has great eye appeal & build quality that is 2nd to none with Bucks forever warranty. The blade is massive and extremely sharp right out of the box. The cocobolo handle and brass pommels are the perfect combination for this beautiful knife. Lastly the brown leather sheath is very thick and very high quality. I couldn't asked for a better knife. The Buck 120 is the prettiest knife of my collection.
This knife is huge, solid and very sharp. The knife is bigger than I expected and even may be too big for some tasks. You can't get a better knife for gutting large animals. I never use it to chop big logs for firewoods. I let my Kabar D2 Extreme Fighting Knife, ESEE 6 Knife, Kabar Becker BK9, or Cold Steel San Mai III Trail Master do that job. Buck Knife has the strongest point in hunting process. I never find a better knife for this task than Buck 120 and Buck 119BR
You will not be dissapointed... this is an heirloom-quality piece! This knife is a celebration of just how GOOD American-made things can be! Everyone that see's this knife instantly comments with something like WOW, Man O Man or Now That's a Knife!
