Ladies and gents,

Do you know what this knife is?
Seems some kind of a last-ditch-back-up type knife.
Also, if you have a small backup knife that you recommend, please let me know.

Thank you.

Definitely looks like it's inspired by Fred Perrin, but it doesn't look like one of his customs. If you're interested in those types of knives definitely look into his work, and his production collaborations with Emerson and Spyderco. The upcoming Spyderco Swick 5/6 models are designed by Sal Glesser, but heavily influenced by Perrin, according to Sal.

I found this through amazon

Yep. Master Cutlery sold them under various names.

These came out around the time of the Cold Steel Point Guard Series, but were influenced by a lot of knives, which in turn, all borrow from Perrin.

a mid section hole on a knife
as an index finger slot
makes for a pretty secure grip.
be aware that in the unlikely event
of physical hostilities
having a finger in a hole
opens the possibility of
injury to the. index finger.
as any sort of exerted force
acting upon the blade will see
the said poor finger in a hole act
as a fulcrum for a lever.
you better have a strong grip !
the likelyhood of which increases
with the length of a blade.
having said that
imo, a straight handle would allow
more gripping options..
just my 2 cent.

I hear you. I saw some ShivWorks picks. And even a Tops California Cobra. I think they are good.

I’m a Karambit guy and sweat a lot so I thought a finger ring would be beneficial. But I agree with your insight.

If I have extra funds maybe I can get some straight handle options.

Thank you for your input.

Upon hitting something hard your index finger might get banged against the front part of the ring, depending on the force, it might end up broken.
