If You Could Custom Build a Plier Based Multitool…

I would base it on the Leatherman ARC/Free platform. Ide call it the ARC HD.
Ide extend the length of the handles a 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch so all the internal tools can be longer. One handle would only have a 1/4” standard bit driver for its internal tool. (no proprietary flat bits) The other handle would have the claw shaped can/bottle opener, a proper awl/reamer with a wire stripper and thick prybar/flat head driver. The lengthened handles would let you upsize the tools to have better reach and leverage. The extended handles would also allow for a little space between the driver and the pliers, allowing you to run those double sided 1.5” long driver bits. You could also extend the knife, saw, file and scissor length if the handles were a little longer.

While we are talking about the knife blade. Keep the magnacut but ditch the thumb-stud and give me back the slot/hole. The thumb-stud interferes with sharpening. Also the thinner hollow grind straight edge on the Free P4 blade is PERFECT so ide like that for the grind. Keep the pocket clip.

Give it a nice leather sheath and 1/4” hex bit kit

Those spirits are really nice. I had one some years ago and it went to the beach with me on a fishing trip. Got home from the trip and it was gone. Never found it. I guess Poseidon decided he needed a multitool. I think it got dropped carrying gear to the truck. A smaller version would be a great EDC

1- Leatherman Skeletool with scissors instead of a blade and a little bit shorter.
2- Leatherman Juice without 3 flatheads (1 is enough). Delete the bottle opener. Locking blade. Add a pocket clip.
3- SOG PowerPint (FISHERMAN) Longer/pointier pliers. A good pair of scissors. 1 flathead & 1 Philips screw driver. Delete the other tools. Add rust protection.

Micra frame
ps4 liers
Scissors
flat blade
#2
awl
splinter pick

if were talking about something that's actually possible I'd just like a Bond with scissors instead of the file.

I LOVE pliers......

I don't like multi-tools.

*Now, I'm dreaming of the perfect pliers!
🥰🥰🥰

Since we are talking pliers....
This is New to me this year.
Idk Japanese tools were so good.

This is just one I bought for my knife shop, but I Really like it, and want to look into the rest of their line.

Love the jaws.
And it's an amazing side wire cutter.

Super comfortable, and reasonable price!

Perfect for what?
There's a specific pair for everything.
I've probably got 70 pairs of pliers & cutters with most being intended for different things.

Personally I think the absolute perfect multitool would have the typical size of long nose combo jaws, but would have a 2 position slipjoint pivot.

I like the idea of a skeletool with knipex style scissors (the sort of parrot beak style) short and tight.
But since my skeletool is my rope knife, and the last time I had to use a multitool for multitool reasons...
now I want to design an Ifixit leatherman, so a spot to store a soft pick, a thin spudger, an ESD poker, holder for small hex nuts and a separate precision driver unit, and it has to set/stand as a wire holder or soldering iron holder. I'd also like a very small wire stripper, either a flush cutter style or a high precision blade style. Since I've always treated those as semi-consumable, I'd go with some form of guided stripper with a calibrated and replaceable blade. I might actually put some work into this idea.

Now you talking!

Mine is simple, take the Skeletool CX, remove the bit driver and add the Surge-style scissors, a Wave-sized diamond file and a can opener that works.

They could easily add this to their lineup. Leatherman are you reading this? I hope so.... 😜

I like the idea of a longer Arc. As the Surge is to the Wave. I love the Arc and honestly have no complaints, but I miss the package opener from the older Free series and I would like a T shank blade holder.

Bigger, longer Skeletool would be great as well. They've always felt too small in my hands. A bigger Skeletool-ish thing with a diamond file, scissors, and a Magnacut main blade.

My thinking exactly!

I only own one, the SOG Paratool. I already added the wood saw. I would add a scissors as found on an SAK and a sharper edge on the wire cutting section of the pliers.

Just give me a Leatherman Squirt P4 and S4 with the 3D Phillips driver of the Leatherman Squirt E4, and on the S4, change out the file to a diamond nail file, and swap out the pivot pins for machine screws.
