if you could have just one knife in each of these 6 categories, what knives would they be?

I see there's a bunch of "if you could have only one knife..." post, but how about if you could have only 6 knives? Two rules: 1) the knives have to be in production or have periodic runs. b) $300 or less for each.

Categories:

Small Folder, <= 3 inches

Large Folder, 3.5 inches or more

Fidget knife, any size

EDC knife, any size

Gentleman knife

Box slicer (folder or fixed, no utility knives)

Small folder - Dec '20 BOTM. Not a production item, but I have one. (It was this, or my DLT exclusive...I chose the CPM154 over S35VN; but I'd be just as happy either way)
Large folder - Reate K2. Over $300 new; but it's pretty much owned my rfp for the last couple years.
Fidget knife - no. *I'll pick another knife of my choice; something useful. (Probably Busse BB13 or Kabar Becker BK20. Maybe Busse Urban Grudge LE, because I'm keeping it anyway)
EDC knife - since you've neglected fixed blades as a category, I'll put mine here. Not a production item, and don't know if the maker's current price would be under $300
Gentleman's knife - GEC 62 half whittler in birdseye maple. I think it is one of one...maybe they'll make another someday; but I hope not
Box slicer - utility knife

I know I didn't follow your "rules"; but I chose from what I have...
(You're not the boss of me:p)

1. I don't own or carry or have any desire for a <3" knife. No comment.

2. >3.5" ZT0452

3. Fidget: ZT0452

4. EDC: cpk dek1. Dont like it, that's fine. All of my fixed blades are above $300 and/or don't meet your production knife requirement (busse, full custom, etc)

5. im not a gentleman, i don't own a single gentleman's knife, have never owned one. My zt does suit duty too...light, thin, hides with deep clip.
6. I use my edc for box opening.

I'm doing two lists, one where I follow the prompt and another where I ignore the rules like most of the posts in here.

Small folder - Pena front flipper
Large folder - ZT0452
Fidget knife - Guardian Tactical Recon 035
EDC - QuietCarry Waypoint or TRM Neutron 2
Gentleman - ProTech Malibu
Box Slicer - my modded REX 45 Manix 2 with Caveman Scales aluminum handle or a fixed blade

Rules be damned:
Small folder - Pena front flipper custom
Large folder - Demko AD20 HG
Fidget knife - Protech Malibu (Hand-engraved Ti with Damascus)
EDC - SharpByDesign Evo Typhoon (DLC/Marbled Carbon handle with Damasteel)
Gentleman - CRK Damascus Box Elder Mnandi
Box Slicer - TRM Neutron 2 with a tungsten carbide blade

Small Folder, <= 3 inches
Large Folder, 3.5 inches or more
Fidget knife, any size
EDC knife, any size
Gentleman knife
Box slicer (folder or fixed, no utility knives)

I must be very simple-minded. What I carry and use would satisfy me for 4 or 5 of the categories- Large Folder through Gentleman Knife, maybe even Box Slicer. My most used knives are PM2 and Manix2, the only restriction being that my CF PM2 is the one I would choose as a Gentleman Knife. This is stretching one of the categories a bit since both of these are just shy of 3.5". If I have to choose something over 3.5" I would have to think hard between the Manix2 XL and the Military.
I don't do small folders but I own a few- mini-griptilian is one that I used to carry. I have done a lot of box cutting with the 154CM Manix2 that I keep in my garage.

Fidget knife, any size- flipper cqc7

EDC knife, any size- regular cqc7

Gentleman knife -custom cqc7

Box slicer (folder or fixed, no utility knives)- fixed blade cqc7

I'm going to assume for the sake of the list that these are the only 6 knives we can own, and therefore I'm not going to repeat any.

With a $300 limit,

Small Folder: Spyderco Delica
Large Folder: Cold Steel Code 4
Fidget knife: Spyderco Sage 5
EDC knife: Spyderco Brouwer
Gentleman knife: Case Swayback
Box slicer: Cold Steel Kiridashi

I'll play.

Small Folder, <= 3 inches
A. G. Russell Medium Barlow. I like the Ebony Delrin, and if they made this in a black linen micarta, I think it would be the perfect knife, for me.

Large Folder, 3.5 inches or more
Cold Steel Immortal.

Fidget knife, any size
WE/Lundquist Black Void Opus.

EDC knife, any size
Alox Electrician.

Gentleman knife
Leatherman Skeletool CX. Not exactly a knife, but that's the point.

Box slicer (folder or fixed, no utility knives)
TOPS Outpost Command.

I’m not sure about b) as opposed to 1). (Remind me not to ask you to catalogue my library. :p)

I’m not some flash Harry when it comes to knives. No Shiros in my house, one plain Jane CRK Sebenza 21. But this $300 limit makes it an exercise in self-restraint, not actually being able to choose the knife one would choose if limited to six in those categories, given a free hand. If you wish to expand the scope, I’ll play. ;)
