Hey all, I could use a little help with this 2 blade Imperial folder. Heres what I got:

Brand: "Imperial"
Orgin: USA
Numbers: Small blade only:
2170537
P2284833
2689400
Sheild: "Stainless"
Scales: Mother of Pearl
Condition:Ok? Both blades are tight, a bit of wobble in the large blade. Small Chip in the tip of the small blade.
I have had this since my Father in Law passed away 18 years ago and it looked like this then. That is all I can tell you. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks ~baba~

Handle scales are possibly celluloid, not real MOP, since they appear to be shrinking and pulling away from the pins.

The patent dates are 1938/1942 and 1951/1954.

Imperial production was moved overseas in the mid-1980s. So your knife dates somewhere between 1951/1954 and the 1980s. My '80s Imperials don't have the patent number and are stamped "Provence RI", so I would guess your knife is in the earlier portion of that possible range.

Someone familiar with vintage Imperial knives can almost certainly provide more info.

Try posting down in the Schrade forum. It's a sub-forum within "Collectors Forums".

Or perhaps the Bernard Levine Knife Identification section.
