Impinda out of production?

I know, stupid question since it's obviously listed on CR's site. Nevertheless I've been looking for months for a dealer who has an Impinda in stock and it is and remains out of stock everywhere. Estimated re-stocks at my past dealers get postponed every month for another four weeks.
Is there a reason for that? Sebenzas and Inkosis are still in stock at many dealers...
I know Chris Reeve knives have always been in high demand but in the last 20 years I never experienced a shortage like this.

Thanks!

I hope not.

Truly an understated knife from CRK.

Just the other day I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully they’re pushing them to the side until they can make more blades in magnacut? At least that’s my hope, but unsure how realistic/accurate that guess is…

Hopefully they make more in damasteel too!

I sure hope so! They make this joke of a knife but discontinue the Sebenza 21? I'm still salty about that. There are a million better slip joints out there for less then half the price. I hope I don't trigger anyone, but common people!
I mean, if they at least made it look appealing, like the Mnandi.

Well the good news is there are also a million better knives than the Sebenza 21 for half the price so you might want to jot that down.

Fixed blades, yes. But folders? I politely dis-a-gree. CRKs may be overpriced, but they still make the best damn folder in the world. The Se-ben-za. At least if we pretend that inlay design in the 31 dosant exist.

It's obvious that we all have our likes and dislikes, but to me the common denominator is CRK's quality across the board. I have some of each and rotate frequently and have a hard time picking a favorite... I do love them all! "P" , Original, Regular, Classic, 21,31 Umnumzaan, Impinda, Inkosi, 25 ,, would be happy with any of them...Now if I could only score an "H"!!!!They may be overpriced , but it would be hard to loose much money without some serious abuse.

Have you based your experience on owning one?

Hell no. Ive tried one in a shop, if that's what you mean. The design goes pretty much against anything I want in a slip joint. Boring looks, no elegance. Blade stock is too thick. Action is spongy, especially when compared to high quality traditionals, or the stuff coming out if italy (similar to my Hinderer XM slippy actually). Clip doesn't work well at all. CRK already has the best clip in the pocket knife world, why not use it on this knife?

I own the hinderer like I mentioned, which also goes against some of my design preferences, but it makes up for it with being a one-hand opener & having the finger choil, which makes it impossible for the blade to close on your finger. Its also about half the price. I own the Lionsteel Thrill, which also has thick blade stock, but its otherwise amazing, has a very elegant design, a retractable clip, full integral, & cost me under €200. Hard to complain about that.

I think some of the appeal of the Impinda is that it is unintimidating. Legal length blade most places, 2 hand opening, and no "Click" when opening like a Sebenza. A great knife when your Sebenza is "uncomfortable to carry for other people. Personally I don't have that issue, it's always a large CRK something or other for my EDC. They all go good with a Glock or 1911, Just sayin.....

Seems like they are still making them, but they may not be making( or have not just made) a batch at this time. They seem pretty backed up on orders, and I don't think it is their most sought after knife.
It is their take on a non-locking folder, for those that might want( or need) a CRK of this mold. Choice is always good IMO. Like rhem, then buy one. Don't like them, there are plenty of other choices.
The Sebenza is still my knife of choice from CRK-regulars and classic mm, followed by 21's, but that is just me.
Overall it seemed like a nice knife, just was not a keeper for me. I like one handed too much.

I was carrying a Sebenza for over a decade but laws changed and now I need a two handed knife. Preferably non-locking.
I really like the quality of Chris Reeve and would like to stay true to them. And I really like the design of the Impinda. Maybe there are other knives out there which might suit my purpose. But I haven't found a nice one yet.
The problem with many slipjoints in my opinion is they're not very pleasing when closed (i.e. the back / read end of the blade protrudes in a sharp angle).

Take a look at the Viper Twin or Key. No protrusion & far more elegant then a Impinda IMO. Also less then half the price.

Another one I really like is the PMP Harmony. Discontinued I think, but maybe you can still find one. Similar aesthetic to the Impinda.

I have thought often of picking one up. I came from the traditional side and always looked at it as a great hybrid kinda knife. I may go on a hunt for one.

Cool knife. Seems like it would be a good option for unique graphics or inlays.
