I hope I'm not posting in the wrong place. If so, sorry.
I need to make a shoulder type rig to carry my ZT170. Normally it is not an issue to carry it on my belt but I have an occasion that I will need to carry it under a jacket, underarm cross draw style. I know there are commercially made ones but this method of carry will be rare for me so I don't want to shell out. I recall sometime ago seeing someone here had fashioned one with paracord or something. I can probably figure out something myself but if anyone can point me to where this was or another home made dealeo I would really appreciate it.

I think crkt had the mercharness, now called the biotac, that you can probably find a video of.

Its just made out of paracord and some rubber stoppers but you could just as easily use knots

Edit: Here it is, haha. I cant believe they are charging money for this bullshit

Have you thought of Mule Tape? It's very strong, flat nylon rope. Thin, flexabe, comfortable to the touch.
We used to drag large fiber optic cable through hundreds of feet of underground tube with a truck. I never saw it break.
I'ts like $5 for a 100ft bag.
Or braid some paracord, it's a great way to keep more paracord on you while out and about.

Hi.

If you have a Kydex sheath with eyelet rivets it is easy.

All you need to do is get 5' of black paracord (about a dollar's worth at the surplus store), pull it through two of the eyelets, tie a loose knot to keep it in sort of a figure-8 once you've got the measurements right, adjust it till it is nearly perfect and cinch the knot tight, snip off the excess and melt the ends with a lighter.

It is that simple, but a bit sloppier than most like. George markets a similar system using rubber grommets to keep everything together he calls the mercharness and he sells them for 10 bucks each. Another site sells something similar with a leather disc in the back to keep the shoulder loops separated. I've seen rigs made from leather lacing and black elastic strips as well, but paracord is the most durable and practical choice. You'll figure it out through trial and error like the rest of us did.

Thanks. I'll look into that. Materials are less of a concern. I'm looking more for design ideas.

Well, it's a good idea and a decent enough product for what it is.

Where can you find rubber stoppers in that size? One of mine broke. :(

Cut a piece of 550 cord at 4' and loosely tie the ends together to make a it one big loop. Twist it once to look like a figure 8. The "X" goes on your back with your arms going through the holes like a backpack.

Tyr beat me to it.

Get creative. Some of the Kel Tec guys are using iron-on holsters now. Seriously, it is like an iron-on patch that you stick to the side of your undershirt and voila -- instant deep concealment holster.

Some people just get an oversized safety pin and pin the sheath inside their coat or pocket.

There are lots of ways to carry stuff like that. Depends on whether speed, ease of access, or concealment is most important.
