INFI corrosion protection?

I've found INFI to be extremely stain resistant. Every few years or so I pull out my collection to check everything over and do any cleanup. I've come across a couple stained spots where maybe I didn't clean super well after using and storing. Clean it up and hit it with Ren Wax works great for me. Storing in a sheath also has never been an issue, as long as I put it away clean and dry.
Now, one time I stored a 1095 blade from a company on the UP of Michigan in a sheath I had recently dyed with "vinegaroon" and hadn't yet figured out how to neutralize the acidity and that blade looked like holy hell 12 hours later.
