Dropped NMFBM LE #45 directly and vertically on four inches of 2500 PSI concrete slab from about two feet high...

Hmm...Looks as if some chipping occurred...

Hmm...Interesting...An INFI tear...

WOW....sorry to hear this Adam....I assume you did'nt mean to drop it....this makes two unexpected "edge" issues on the NMFBM's....the other one being the "deer leg bone" chopping. Maybe the heat from Convex grinding is a bit higher than the other grinds? I doubt it though.....they all should be give or take the same.....some guys have said it sometimes takes a few sharpenings to get the "expected" Infi edge performance??

Let's see what some of the more experienced users say......

Hmm...I'm not entirely sure how "unexpected" edge damage is when you drop a knife onto concrete tip first. :p

Even so, that does look like a tear, and that shouldn't easily happen with INFI. I would sharpen it off and beat on it more. If it keeps on doing that, I'd send it off to the shop for them to take a look at it.

Looks pretty normal to me. That concrete looks like it has some granite in it as agregate or something.

Only one thing to say when you hurt the concrete and not the INFI, "TADA!" :D

Don't fret...Jerry will fix it for ya!
Next test: Whack that bee-otch on a piece of 1/2 inch re-bar!! :)

Hmmm, looks like the concrete took a beatin from only 2' The best part of this thread is another happy warranty customer  I would like to see other knives try this, post pics and get reparations through the company warranty  Rock on Boss :D

I have had .125" tears on either side of a .3125" wide, .125" deep roll on a mid 1999 manufacture SHBM.

I used a fat 1" crock stick to mash/strop it back straight again, took me maybe 2 hours working 15 minutes or so at a time.

After straightening, the two tiny tears could still be seen with a bit of magnification.

No more problems in the last 8 years with that spot, still chops just fine.

Got mine with a full power swing/chop on a 60 penny nail I think.

But from a 2' fall? Bummer, What is INFI coming to?

I am glad most of mine is the old stuff.

It is a lot of mass striking tip first on the concrete...... Not sure what to expet from a 2' distance but I would reprofile the edge and fix the rolls and just beat on it some more to see what happens. The tear would seem strange but it struck concrete tip first so I'm not sure what to make of that....... As far as compaing old infi and new infi not sure about that either. Sorry I can't be more helpful my friend.

Curious... I have no problem with my Busse Game Warden :

My step-father (raised me since I was about 4) told me when you get a new truck throw a cement wheelbarrow in the back and drive 20 miles down a rough road and you will never worry about it again. Same goes for a user blade. Use it don't worry about it. If you weren't planning to make a user of it. Well! Fumble fingers! it is now. Sorry just had to say it.

I say take another picture!

I hope thats a user, man!:)

I think it will be fine. Fix it up a little, beat the living crap out of that beast and if it gets worst, then... get a free new one! best warrenty in the world! :)

Zero convex edges on any steel will get messed up doing something like that..

Send me the NMFBM LE and I will do further tests... That tear intrigues me ... Never have I see such a thing ... wow,

Cool though ,,,
