Since I am from Czech Republic, I was contacted some people interested in MIKOV knives. This company is the only one producing knives in our country. There are some custom makers but I am not familiar with their work. I missed the last show (and there are only two/year) and the next one is in October. If you need more info please see my post in For Sale Forum: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/005551.html

Thank you.

Dobry den, pan David1967. I lived in Prague for about five years (back in Florida now). Can't say I know much about Mikov knives (or want to) but I do know there are a few knife shops in Prague that are really pretty darn good. A few years back I bought a gorgeous auto at that hunters shop on Narodni trida. Eventually I traded it for a Spyderdo Delica. Still miss the city.
Cau.

I am glad you enjoyed the city. I have not had the chance to wisit the shops in Prague but those in Brno sell very expensive knives. At least the knives not produced here in Czech Rep. I guess you can still find good deals there especially for Czech made customs or regular production. People here are not used to paying too much for knives. 10 USD is a lot of money here.

Okay...so I can't really speak (write) Czech. I went to Prague last summer and LOVED it. I'm hoping to move there for a year or so after I get out of college. Anyways, where's this knife shop in Prague?

Dekuji!

You have to ask mnblade for directions. I rerely visit Praha, since it is on the other side of the republic.

Granite, if you decide to move here for a while, let me know. There are other interesting places to visit.

Pavle,

send me more info about the blade show in Brno. Thanks. About the KDS. I always thought they are made in Taiwan or so because IMO they are POS.

David

PS: I am glad I am not the only one from Czech here.

Granite: I know of a few shops in Prague with knives. Two are completely off the beaten path. The easiest one to find, however, is downtown on the street Narodni trida. Head down Wenceslas Square to the bottom, then walk towards the river. The shop is on your left side BEFORE you get to the large Tesco department store. It's kind of a hunting supply store so in the windows they usually have displays featuring olive green clothes, dog-training supplies, and, yes, knives. There's a small knife-only shop almost directly across Narodni. However, far and away the best knives they have there are Victorinox. Primarily they have knives from KDS Sedlcany and I have to agree with David that they are pretty much crap. I would also agree with David that there are other interesting places to visit in the Czech Republic besides Prague. Brno is a nice, as is all of Moravia. There are LOTS of nice places to hike and camp all over the whole country. Someday I'll get to them all.

I have just visited our local gun - knife shop. Nothing special, just few Mikovs (no autos) and many cheaply looking knives from Spain.

mnblade, I am glad you liked Moravia. We also established independent Wallachian Kingdom you can visit us at: www.valasske-kralovstvi.cz

For those in the USA, some of Mikpv's blades, as well as those of a number of other ex-Warsaw Pact countries are carried by The Sovietski Collection ( www.sovietski.com ). They will send you a free dead tree catalog, if you wish, and it is a hoot to look through. I have a number of "wants" atready.
