I have a 31 year old 112 and an even older 110 that I've been happy with. I recently looked at the current Buck inventory and really like the look of the Alpha Hunter. It appears to me to have a lot of the same appeal that the 112 had for me back in 1973, but with a better blade, one hand operation and a sweet handle. Has anyone here purchased this knife who can give me a report on how they like it?

Hi Mike,
I collect Alpha Hunters and display them at Knive Shows. I carry a #277 all the time and recommend it highly. I have big hands and the Alpoha Hunters really fit nice. I'm sure you will enjoy it for many years to come.

I've got the 279 (420hc and rubber handle) It's a real nice knife. I like the ergo on the blade, takes less effort to use the entire length. I bought the 277 for my father in law and he wont use it because its so nice. I ended up giving him an old 450 I had for him to use.

I've got the 277 and like it a lot. I've got smallish hands, but prefer large handles. It's pretty heavy, around eight ounces, so I use the sheath or a knife pocket when I carry it. The liner lock seems pretty reliable, I did some spine whacking just for fun and education and had no problems. I personally would prefer a flat grind vs the hollow and S30V vs ATS-34, but those are pretty minor concerns. It's a great knife for the money.
