I feel kinda awkward asking this but does anyone know the make of the Bowie knife Aldo Rain used in Inglorious Bastards? Looking at movie stills the blade looks exactly like a S&W Texas Hold Em' Bowie with a custom stag handle and brass guard. I'm guessing the prop crew could have just replaced the handle and erased the S&W logo on the blade but does anyone know for sure?

Here are some pics of the knife I'm talking about.

There was a thread awhile back about it. Google "site:bladeforums.com inglorious bastards bowie" and a slew of threads should come up.

The bastard (sorry, wanted to say that :)) is holding a bowie with an S type guard, different to the S&W shown in the pic.

However the blade looks mighty similar though.

no the one in the movie has a stag handle

the blade shapes are very similar but thats it

Um, did you even read his post??

For the billionth time (and this isn't directed at you, Sharp Knives 86, it's directed at everyone who didn't pay attention the first bunch of threads) YES YES YES. It's a S&W bowie with the markings removed and a custom guard and handle put on by the prop department. No one ever listens to me. :(:p

Thanks guys. I actually did do a google search before posting but I got a bunch of links to various sites that had nothing to do with the question asked.

Nothing to do with the knife used in the movie but after the filming of the movie QT had Harvey Dean make a Bowie and Paul Long did the sheath and then it was given to Brad Pitt as a momento of the film.. Pretty cool stuff and I enjoyed the movie

a couple months ago i wanted to get one made and found someone who makes movie knives. i don't know if he's on BF but he is "Archerout" on youtube. i pm'd him and he said he would. from what i can recall, he wanted a very reasonable price for it but i just didn't have the money to spend on it at the time. now that i'm thinking about it, i may have him make one for me....hmmm.

I was saving up for a few other knives but a custom "Aldo the Apache" Bowie would be sweet. I think I'll give Archerout an email.
