I’m wondering if anyone has had issues with the Inkosi’s inlays separating from the titanium due to them being secured in with an adhesive bond. I imagine not, but my brain doesn’t like the idea of them being essentially glued on. Change my mind?

CRK is a professional manufacturer probably using a high grade epoxy and if that’s the case you have nothing to worry about.

Never had an issue with micarta or wood inlays. Ive only ever heard of the wood inlays cracking- they use a super tough 3M tape to secure them.

Knee, shoulder, hip replacements use epoxy to join the plastic (Teflon?) to titanium.

I've never heard of any separation of CRK inlays from the titanium either. 3m VHB tape is strong stuff. I have a roll of it and stuck a piece of it against a wood table once just to get a taste for how it works. When I pulled it up it the next day, it ripped the wood veneer on top of the table right off.

OP you are looking for a problem that just doesn’t exist. I’ve had a Mnandi in my pocket everyday for 4 years or so. It’s been covered in sweat, sliced open 100’s of ice melt bags and laid on the truck tailgate in between, run thru the washing machine…
It and both of its inlays will be in my pocket today as well.

So, basically, the only one who has anything to worry about in this thread is Kettleman: Clean clothes!

(Thread, no pun intended)

AB uses a similar attachment, and per them, the only way to remove the inlay is to break it in to pieces and pry it out. I wouldn't worry.

3M VHB tape. If the stuff is strong enough to hold together buildings, I think we can all be reasonably confident that it will keep a small piece of wood or micarta in place.. if for some reason it doesn't, I have no doubt that CRK would make it right..

I appreciate the reasoning behind the tape. Hadn’t seen their explanation, thanks!

Consider my mind changed on the CRK micarta attachment method. Thank you all for your help. Through multiple posts and all of your responses (some of you on all of my posts) I’ve decided on a Large Inkosi Insingo with Glass Blasted titanium and either red or black micarta inlays as my grail knife. Now for the hard part…finding one.
