Hello, my name is Todor and I'm from Bulgaria. Knives are one of my passions and I have been making them for 7-8 years now. I have been following the forum for a long time and finally decided to show my stuff here. To recieve some feedback, not only from my fellow bulgarian knifemakers, but from all around the world. I would appreciate hearing your opinion on my work .

That's very nice work and I look forward to seeing more of it.

These are very similar to Scandinavian knife styles. Are they also traditional Bulgarian styles?

Yep , alot of my knives are inspired by the Scandinavian blades , but they don't have much in common with the Bulgarian traditional ones.

I know this boy (at my age he is still a boy :D) of 6 or 7 years. He appeared in our cutlery society somehow quite modest and inconspicuous, but soon after, his work began to make an impression.
What I can guarantee now is that if you need a good and properly heat-treated knife to work long and true, this is your man.
Welcome, Todor.

Welcome! Glad to see more scandis on the forum. I am a huge fan of them myself and make most of my knives using blades made by Scandinavian smiths

Hey - question for you - what do traditional Bulgarian knives look like? I like the last two you posted a great deal. I have actually tried to make a couple of knives sort of like them. I like your style a lot. I just want to know what Bulgarian knives are like, too.

Hey,

I'll try to show you some traditional Bulgarian knives, although I'm not the most knowledgeable person on this matter .

This is the so called "karakulak"(каракулак). It means "black ear" in Turkish. It was used for self defence, hacking branches and
everything else you need to do on the field. Most commonly they were made by low carbon steel body and forge-welded high
carbon edge.Common material for the handle is buffalo horn, box wood or some other wood.

The small knife on the first picture(and on the last one) is another type of Bulgarian knife.

There are some more types , but I can't find good pictures right now. I'll do some research and update in future. Cheers
