The REK Sparrow front flipper thread

Man I wish they would get the pics working here again...I'll just do local hosting for now

Anyway, next up is the lockbar relief... it's super important to get this dialed in to an exact thickness for good action and solid lockup. I just rough it out here, I finish it up later to make it smooth.

Then I surface grind the backspacer down to a proper thickness to ensure perfect flatness (otherwise you will have an air gap between the backspacer and the scales when assembled)

I didn't get pics of everything I did so there are a lot of gaps but at least you guys can see a snippit of what's going on!

Next up I ground the outer rim to a satin finish to make sure everything lines up perfectly and then surface ground the blade and did a mock fit up

Now to decide finishes... I decided to go with sculpted on one and a 'groot' finish (I think sean campbell coined the term) for the second. Here's a quick pic after blasting of the latter

Going out on a limb I decided to do some crazy stuff to the groot Sparrow... the other one will have a normal drop point blade w/ swedge

But for this one I was thinking a clip point w/ mirrore stonewashed bevels o_O what do you guys think of this shape vs. the normal one?

Finished them up FINALLY hahaha, very very happy with how they turned out though!! More pics coming soon... If you guys are on my newsletter you probably saw these already but I'll post them anyway for others ;) I've got some videos coming soon too!

REK Knives REK Knives Josh, refresh my memory; are the mid-tech Sparrows running on bearings? If so, do you know the size of the pivot/bearing OD & ball size?
