Now that I have made a few friends and pizzed a couple...or more.... goofs

Lets talk about the possibility of using a stainless investment casting for the basis of an edged "tool".. , for a production knife...

Disclaimer: This would be an " evil process" to traditionalists.. and rightly so..;)

Anyone up on the system ?
I am ;)

I'm no metalurgist, but I doubt investment casting would make a good blade. On the other hand, MIM is the wave of the future IMHO.

MIM Process

Investment casting could do it. After all they've made jet engine turbine blades from investment castings.

You are both correct..
The key is in the " graining"
Needless to say this would HAVE to be close to finished and then either machine or hand completed.
Not an easy task.. intersting though ;)
Google up " Bill Ruger investment casting"
