People think this is a common use area like a city park or something where like minded people happen to meet.

Thats not the case. Companies pay for their own subforum.

He was obviously having an issue and decided he no longer wanted to be part of the forums. I think he wanted to get banned. The other thread on the general forums was much worse than what he did here. I was surprised they did not ban him with that thread. I do hope that any personal issues he has get resolved and all goes well for him.
