Is GEC (Great Eastern Cutlery) going to produce the #71 "Bull Nose" in 2016?

UPDATE (4/11/16): I contacted GEC on Twitter. They replied that they had no plans to produce that model this year.

Here's the link to the twitter exhange

I've heard a rumor that GEC might not produce the Bull Nose this year...

Looking at GEC's website, it looks like they produced the Bull Nose in '12, '13, and '15, so maybe they'll skip 2016? I don't know.

I've been on the hunt for a micarta Bull Nose for a while. I already have a delrin Bull Nose, and it's great. I missed out on this sale from the last week or so.

The only micarta Bull Noses out there (in good shape) are selling for 2x the original price on eBay, etc.

They pop up fairly often on the exchange and typically prices on them here are reasonable, especially if you are looking for a user.

I've had great luck with posting WTB ads and putting what you're searching for in your signature. The guys on here are always looking out for each other and I bet you'd get a handful of messages quickly.

Could be, I've no way of knowing about the rumors but they did run them this year. Might be that they not run them this year in favor of something different now.

acdev, send me an email jhonis at gmail dot com -- you will be pleased!

A little thread necromancy for purposes of a question...

I just got my first 71, one of the new OD green linen micarta ones. It's a phenomenal knife. I'd wanted one for years, and although I love my Case Sodbuster Jr. in chestnut bone and CV, I had to go for it.

So my question is, what does CAR mean on the tang?

I'm no expert on GEC but I believe I've read that it's their new designation for Carbon Steel.

The original SFO by Mike at Collector Knives was marked GEC-01TOOL as were the next couple or so runs. When GEC quit using 01, they started marking them CAR. There might have been a run or two that actually were marked 1095.

They had the "Titusville Ironworks" stamp for a while. This is the first run with "CAR" stamp.

I'm really impressed by the #71 Bullnose in OD Grean Linen micarta I got today. It definitely feels nicer than the others I've had (I think I've had and sold 3 plus a Bullbuster). Perfect centering, strong (7.5-8) but smooth (enough) and manageable pull (also pretty pinchable), tip nowhere near proud (awesome), no blade rap, great looking covers, and really well sharpened. I got this for two reasons; 1) my girlfriend has specifically pointed out this knife in these covers the last two times they've made them as being good looking, so hey it's pretty much the cheapest GEC so why not and 2) I'm going on a trip this weekend and want to have a GEC knife to take that I don't have to worry as much about losing and not being able to replace. I am glad I got one. I find it interesting that they're printing the labels on the tops of the tubes now, but moreso I'm surprised that they didn't already now that I think of it.
