I bought this off Ebay for Father's Day and the markings on the blade do not match what I've scene on this same knife in YouTube reviews!

The Benchmade logo is set much higher and closer to the thumb stud!
On the backside of the blade the M390 is in a different font and rather then the patent number being underneath it, instead it has "benchmade.com/pat" on the blade which i thought was weird!

i have pictures but im unsure on how to upload them!

Thanks for your help guys!

You're good my friend, I thought the same thing about the benchmade/pat thing as well. But after sending photos to Corrine over at BM, she not only verified my blade via phonecall but also told me the Benchmade/pat ordeal is actually something new they are putting on on their blades now.

I have a similar question. I bought 485 Valet yesterday in an online store. I checked it inattentively, I was busy at work. At home, I saw that the logos are different from the usual ones. There is no inscription U.S.A under the butterfly, and on the reverse side there is only the inscription M390, nothing more. Аs far as I can tell, the knife is no different from the original one, except logos. It looks good and works good. But I'm not an expert. What do you think about my knife?

You should be good. I bought my Valet at a local Premium Plus dealer and my blade markings are similar to yours, although my blade has Benchmade's website address printed under the "M390". I used to think that the "USA" under the butterfly was missing because M390 is not an American steel. In fact I have three Benchmades with M390 blades -- 484, 485 and 551-1701 -- that don't have the "USA" printed under the butterfly. Then I bought a 551-1702 which has an M390 blade AND the "USA" printed under the butterfly, so that theory went down in flames.

Ok, I tried to post pictures few times, I did it successfully in the end! :) Now you can see the pictures, you can understand better my doubt. I payed almost $200, and this knife is quite expensive for me.
Ok, absence of printing "U.S.A" is normal. But under printing "M390" is empty space. What do you thing about this?

It looks identical to mine except for the missing website, but I’m not sure how consistent Benchmade is with the way they mark their blades. If you got it from a reputable online shop you probably don’t need to worry. But I’m no expert — maybe Jimmy can step in to ease your mind...

I sent the pictures to benchmadeforum-dot-com, they answered "there aren’t any fakes", and "Yeah, you're good to go" :) I understood my knife is real :) The next week I'm going to buy 940 or 943 Osborn in the same online store

Just getting back from vacation. It looks good to me.
