Hi Everyone,

I would like to find out if the the Ka-Bar Combat Kukri is full tang or not.

Also, how does it compare to HI similar size kukuries if someone has them both?

Love Kbar, have the BK2 BK15 and two of the new small ones the clip point and the drop point.

Thanks

Yes, the combat Khukri has a full length, hiden, stick tang. Kind of like the H.I. non Chiruwa tangs.

A 12" H.I. would be the closest comparison. I happen to have a 12" Ang Khola, but no Ka-Bar Combat Kukri to compare it to. If you'd like to loan me a Ka-bar for comparison, I'd be happy to do it. Or, you're welcome to come to Central Utah for some testing and playing.

To me, the Ka-Bar is a Modern interpretation of the design. Some people like modern, others traditional, I'd love to have both. Good luck! I hope you find someone with both that can help you out.

I assume that the tang on it is the same as all fighting/utility models. Its not a full width tang but is wider than it looks at the pommel. They run down the same thickness all the way through the handle then its kinda squared of to fit the slot of the pommel and the pommel rest on top the rest of the tang, if that makes sense.

Full length stick tang, good users but not as robust as your beckers. Don't go poundin' on the spine and you'll have it for years

Tang is the same as the other Ka-Bars with the same handle such as the fighting/utility. I've never tested one to failure or heard the skinny from someone who has but I would guess that it wouldn't be the best choice for a chopper, which is what I do with my large knives. But I don't know what you intend to do with it. It's not delicate or fragile by any means but the Becker BK4 would be better if you use your blades like I do. I've also heard that there's also another Ka-Bar/becker kukri in the works but it's about two years out.

Thank you very much for the information fellows. I am still thinking about it but this sure helps.

I've tested the F/U class to failure and let me tell you, it took one hell of a beating before it snapped and that was with baton wacking the spine, hard.

Go for it, and I wouldn't be afraid to clear nuisance saplings or similar out of my way at all.
