Is there a quality folding karambit a bit smaller than spyderco karahawk?

Hello all,

First post.

Just bought a spyderco c170GBBKP Kara hawk g-10 folder black, 2.35"
I really like it.

I was hoping someone could tell me something exists that is maybe 20% smaller overall?
Does anything like this exist with maybe a 3.5" handle instead of a 4" handle?
MUST have the emerson wave feature. <--- this is the difficult part to find

I've searched, but my Google-Fu might not be as refined as a more experienced knife guy...

I can't really think of a folding kerambit that small. The most compact ones in my collection are the Black Bird and Mako folders from Bastinelli Creations.

The thing with kerambits is that, since you put a finger through the ring, the handle has to be long enough for the other three or you'll end up cutting yourself (you can't leave your pinky hanging off the handle like in regular small knives). Look at tiny kerambits like the Pika, the blade's tiny but the handle isn't much shorter than the one on a full size kerambit.

In my hand holding the spyderco, I have at least 1/2" of "unused" grip length. My hands are medium/small, I understand someone with large hands would use the whole grip length, but I'm not, so I'm hoping for an overall smaller grip and a small blade.

Thank you for your reply :)

Maybe you could get a small fixed blade neck knife style karambit and wear it on your belt.

If you don’t care about the hooked blade feature of the karambit and want the ring you could always get a waved Delica and put a Signet ring on it.

Waved Delica on the right.

Signet Ring Mod from WiseMen company. Just search Delica Signet Ring in google.

Just be sure to watch videos on how to disassemble and reassemble the delica. It is trickier than it looks.

J Jumbi8 even better idea. I believe you can put the Delica signet ring on a Lil’ matriarch. Especially if you can find a plain edge one. Here is one with custom scales.

Wisemen company has another mod for the Delica that I believe would fit on the little matriarch called the Delica Fang. It is a wave that screws through the Spyderhole. With a lil matriarch (plainedge) a delica signet ring and delica fang from Wisemen Company you will have your smaller waved karambit. And a badass one at that.

Delica fang seen here on delica wharncliffe with custom scales. The delica wharnie has abit more of a karambit shaped blade though not as hooked as the lil matriarch.

Just email wisemen and make sure the delica fang and delica signet ring fit the lil matriarch.

WoW! You guys are the best!
Yes, I think I will go this route. I think the straighter blades are better for EDC.
I will keep the spyderco Kara Hawk as it is and also get a few of these bad boys as you showed me the light :-)

I just ordered the delica because it has the emerson wave, and I also ordered the signet ring.

I'll let you know how I like it.

This is a great option that I did not know about until you guys told me.

Excellent forum because you guys make it so.

My pleasure! i am so glad I could help. Let us know how you like it because I have a waved Delica that I need to get a signet ring for.

I'm so new to this quality pocket knife thing.
I'm finding what I really want is more of a easy, small, light EDC knife, the emerson feature I'm actually finding to not be what I want to use 99% of the time.

So far then, for a practical every day blade, I'm finding the spyderco dragonfly 2 to be my best fit for me...

I liked the idea of the karambit folder, but in practical use, not so much.

The delica arrived today. With the signet ring, it is just too long for how I want it to not be so cumbersome in my pocket. Maybe I'm just a newby snowflake, but I am much preferring the tiny dragonfly 2 as I can get a full 4 finger grip on it both ways, regular and reverse grip.

Now does anyone make a ring for the dragonfly 2 ?? That might be my current perfect design.

My usual EDC was a kershaw leek assisted, but the spyderco is such a finer build quality, I think the spyderco dragonfly 2 will do just fine.

Excellent choice.

The DF will do the vast majority of work for standard day to day stuff for most people with only few tasks being better left to bigger knives.

I got the DF2 in ZDP189 and was pleasently surprised by the knife and how well it works.

The usual Spyderco quality and a leaf shaped blade to boot. Cant ask for much more.

Its one of my favorites even though I, like many here, have other larger knives.

The VG10 version is also a fine knife and a good starting point depending on your steel preference.

If I wanted to "upgrade" the steel, where would I go from here?
This is not to say that I am not very impressed with the edge holding of the VG10, because it is light years better than my kershaws ever were.

VG10 is excellent IMO.

Id be perfectly happy with a VG10 DF2.

You'd go longer between sharpening sessions with the ZDP189.

Some seemingly consider ZDP more difficult to sharpen (than VG10). I dont have problems sharpening my ZDP blades. Depends on what you are used to, I guess.

There is also H1 but that wont be necessary unless you use the knife in a corrosive enviroment i.e. around salt water etc

I'm going a different direction now...
I have discovered Shirogorov..

Must have ultra lite neon... where can I buy one?

From a DragonFly ... to a Shirogorov.

Alrighty then.

You could check the sales forums here. They pop up once in a while.

I'm checking everywhere for the Shirogorov ultra lite neon.
I'm on the "notify me" list at Recon1 and have made an offer on the one on ebay...

Ooooooh, ebay. Be careful you don't buy a clone or counterfeit! I would stick with reputable dealers.

Soo very true, but if upon inspection it is suspected to be fake, Ebay, and paypal will always side with the buyer, so much so there is way too much fraud and abuse by unethical buyers.
