I just started to exclusively carry Swiss Army knives. Maybe it's just a phase, but I really enjoy these non threatening knives.

I would love to carry more than my SAK Tinker, but it's not practical as an officer worker in sales. I may find a way to keep my BK14 on me, though I don't really need it for what I do.

I don't EDC them, but I completely understand. I don't see the need for anything else, but my big folders are my little indulgences in life. I've never met a job yet that a SAK couldn't accomplish. What model do you carry? I used to carry a climber with my folders, but stopped awhile ago. It still tempts me though.

I carry a vic classic on my keys, and in addition to my multitool and large folder, I always carry my farmer. Infact I carry my farmer on the weekends as well...but always in addition to another larger folder or fixed blade.

I don't exclusively edc a sak, but they are my most commonly carried knives.
I have a classic on my keychain and usually have an alox soldier in my pocket.
Outside of work I like to add a one hander. But I still keep that soldier handy.

I edc a spartan as a key chain, and have a Pioneer on me as well but I also usually have a leatherman and a OHO with me as well, though at work i think I could lighten my load if I had a farmer and nothing else...

I carry a Tinker. I really like it a lot. I would like to find an actual 1961-2008 soldier. If I can't find one, I suppose I could get a pioneer. I also eventually want to get a farmer. I love the alox models.

For several months now, I have only been edc'ing a victorinox swiss army cadet or climber. I started with the cadet but recently gave it to my wife and acquired a climber. I seem to find scissors useful to have. I have yet to come across a cutting task that I can not accomplish with a SAK. Just have to be careful and remember there is no lock on the blades. My only complaint about dropping a SAK in your pants pocket is it turns horizontal and buldges out on each end.

I'm a university student, and I EDC a vic tinker every day, along with a multitool in my bag. I have a spyderco I occasionally carry on weekends or if im going fishing, along with a fixed blade.
I find the tinker to be completely adequate for any cutting tasks I have for it, and its also versatile and NON THREATENING, which is absolutely vital around a lot of people groups... yeah, you know who I mean.

I always have a Rally with me on my keychain...a Climber that lives in my Dopp bag has come in handy lots of times when travelling, and on my desk at home a much loved SwissChamp (which I got in Paraguay in 1989 while going through a SAK "phase" that hasn't ended yet!) is always within reach.

I know a pastor who only carries a tiny SAK. I agree with him that it'll handle most everyday tasks but I need a little more strength, a lot more handle, one-hand deployment and a locking blade. I've been thinking about getting one but a sturdy locking folder and a leatherman suit me a lot better.

You can get soldiers on the bay. They can be a little pricey for a sak, but very reasonable compared to most other knives folks crave. I have a pile of pioneers, a farmer, soldier, bushcrafter and cadet - all alox. If you start buying them, watch out.

I rotate them with other slip joints.

I always have a Vic Classic or a Cadet to supplement my larger folding knife which is currently a Spyderco Sage 1 CF. I have carried just a SAK before when the occasion is appropriate like at Walt Disney World or to my daughter's school functions where a 3"+ bladed modern folder may not be tolerated.

I have been considering just EC'ing a SAK for a while now. I would want no more than a 2-layer SAK to keep it slim in a 91mm size with scissors. Having scissors is the main reason I carry a Vic Classic or my LM Juice. Which I have also though about EDC'ing by itself. I would also want it clipped to my pocket (RFP) so I would attach a NiteIze eClipse or HipClip. I already have a HipClip on my LM Juice and often clip it to my left rear pocket. It works quite well.

As far as what model SAK I was considering, well, I was thinking the Vic Compact. This has a very interesting feature-set. Not only does it have a large blade, scissors, combination bottle opener/can opener/wire stripper/large screwdriver, hook, corkscrew, toothpick, tweezers but also has a mini screwdriver, straight pin and a mini ball point pen. This could really slim down my EDC and is nice and slim since it is a 2-layer SAK. I just wish it was available in Alox too. Oh well, I think the clip would adhere better on the regular smooth scales.

I EDC two Victorinox knives. One is a Rambler on my keychain and the other is a Swiss Tool X on my belt. These supplement another knife most of the time. I have no problem carrying just a normal SAK though, on occasion.

I have carried just a SAK when on vacation. If I'm flying, I mail a SAK to where I'm staying and pick it up when I get there. Last summer we vacationed in Key West for a week, and went fishing, snorkeling, kayaking in the mangroves and a SAK recruit did everything I needed a knife for and more. It cut bait, opened lots of cold Corona's, and cut limes for the gin and tonics. Made a small running repair to a rented motor scooter with the screw driver. My better half carries a Victorinox classic on her keyring, and thats all she uses. I carry a Vic classic on my keys, and I do a heck of a lot with it. The SD tip works well on small phillips screws, and I've repaired all kinds of stuff with it. Even replaced the door latch on the clothes drier with it.

I could get by nicely with just a SAK, but then what would I do with my Case damascus and amber bone peanut?

Carl.

I can relate to this post. I took my climber to Waikiki(checked baggage obviously) and carried it with me every day(even to the beach). Even my wife was glad I brought it because it came in so handy for cracking open wine, beers, cutting limes and general food prep in the hotel room. Even better, our luggage was damaged and I was able to patch it up using duct tape(we bought at Ala Moana) but I had to cut some strips to comform to the contours of the bag so the climber's scissors were a godsend at the airport.

I can't carry just one knife, I don't think I'm genetically programmed to do so.

But there is a SAK on me at all times, unless I'm sleeping. Then, its on the night stand.

Right now, its an Alox farmer, Rucksack, or Handyman. They get rotated out depending on if I am "around town", "In the woods", or "At work".

Ahhhhhh.....SAK, what don't they make....
