Is there something similar to this seax but cheaper?

I like this blade shape. I'm looking for something similar but without the pattern-welded blade, carved handle and all that.

I have a bit of a thing for the Seax and am always on the lookout for good interpretations of this classic design. Unfortunately, many of them are either cheap recreations for the re-enactment crowd, or very high end, custom work.

Have you checked out the Condor 'Norse Dragon' Seax? I haven't, but for the price it's intrigued me, to play around with.

I really like the blade shade of them, it's got a little bit of few bladeshapes and retains a belly and acute tip. Like the Santa Fe pictures. If the QSP Penguin had this shape, it'd be perfect.

I have three from Himalayan Imports: 2 that are 14" overall and a big boy clocking in at 18+". No carved handles and simple carbon steel, but they look the part of a broken back Seax. Some folks don't like the fact they are not "traditional" have pinned slabs on a full tang. I personally don't care. They are hell for stout and didn't cost $400+ dollars.

I have also looked at the Condor Dragon Seax as well as the Condor Sigrun.

The Condor Seax reminds me that I actually made one about that size out of an Old Hickory butcher knife about nearly 20 years ago. Just cut it off with a Dremel and sanded it. Easy to do and I think cost me about $8 and a couple hours buffing it up.

Dunno what I ever did with it.

The Santa Fe was an amazing knife for the money. It is easily the best $25 knife I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot of budget knives over the years). Unfortunately, it is now discontinued and hard to find.

I have one of these. It feels like a kitchen knife in hand but the 2.8mm blade thickness is more on par with their EDC knives. It did have a few crisp scale edges that I sanded down. Still... I just never end up using it.

L Legendary_Jarl I've got some hidden tang knives with almost this exact shape in the works, in .196" AEB-L.

I'm always happy to see your designs. You make it hard to buy factory fixed blades. There is no contest when the price is close. Even with lower prices, that's just money that could go towards something so much better.

Do a search for "sax" on the bay - Cold Steel makes a couple different versions, various price range for 1055 steel to Damascus steel.
