Is this a Pro-Venator or a Pro-Grip?

Purchased late 90's or early 2000's, I can't recall. The inlay is definitely rubber, not FRN or hard. Same rubber on other side on clip.

Q qwikkota : This knife is, in so many ways, not my bag, but the design and execution is so perfect, especially the blade, that I can't stop looking at it. The curves are extraordinary. It's like the Sophia Loren of cutlery.

I believe technically that’s a pro grip II. IIRC the pro venator name was dropped shortly after the model came out because another company was using it. The ATS-55 stamp makes it a later model.

I believe the name that was dropped was Pro-Hunter because another brand was using it.

Yes, the shape of the blade and the ergos with the rubber are very nice. If it weren't for the rubber on the clip and the weight, it would be darn near perfect.

The "rubber" is Kraton, a class of thermoplastic elastomers. ;)
That's what I was referring to generically. I was clarifying it wasn't a later model where they switched to FRN, I believe anyway. Wish I still had the box, might be worth something.

I've got a Pro-Venator that I wish I could find a different clip for. That Kraton on the underside of the clip makes it such a pain. It's a shame, that knife has just been sitting in a drawer for 20ish years.
