Is this a real zt0452cf?

I appreciate any feedback as I'm pretty new to Zero Tolerance knives, I haven't spent more than 50 bucks on a knife until now.

I just purchased a zero tolerance zt0452 off of amazon. From them directly and not a 3rd party. The detent felt very light for a new knife so I requested an exchange and they sent me another. The detent seemed about the same but the lock bar pressure seemed stronger on the second one so it worked better but was hard to close with one hand. My main concern is the milling on the titanium side of the knife, little ridges run down the sides where on every other pictures I find online it's smooth. Both of the knives I received are like this and they have consecutive serial numbers in the 14,xxx.

Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.

Wow I'm always just so appalled that Amazon sells fakes directly. I just bought a Victorinox on Amazon and I hope it is all good. There don't seem to be convincing Victorinox fakes. That sucks though, definitely tell Amazon.

I hope yours is alright. 'Most' things I order from amazon seem to be alright. I was weary of ordering a nicer knife like this from them, I would have preferred bladehq or one of those places but I had an amazon gift card.

I appreciate all of the feedback!

Right, there is no milling on the sides of mine and I still have my very low serial number piece : 0443 I bought it right when they were first introduced.

The only way I can see this happening is if someone ordered a 0452cf off amazon and returned a fake to them. And you unluckily got it. Amazon will not themselves knowingly sell a fake.

EDIT: I hope I didn't just give a shady ass ****** an idea. And I cannot confirm if yours is a fake.

That milling is on the 0452ti. Looks like they are carrying it over to other variants.

I spent a decent amount of time trying to find 0452CF fakes just now, and I have yet to see one like that. Most fakes have G10 or Ti handles, or are 0454 clones. I think you have the real deal.

It's hard to tell without a break down of the knife, hopefully it's legit. The milling makes sense knowing they have this feature on the all Ti models. Typically ZT is consistent with their detent strength. Mine is in the 11xxx series and does not have the milling.
I fully understand looking for ways to save a little money purchasing knives, but sometimes it isn't worth the risk buying from non authorized dealers. I'll never understand why someone will buy from eBay or Amazon knowing that what is being bought has a potential to be a fake. In the long run, you don't save any money, takes up time to keep sending it back, crossing your fingers the next one will be real and potentially being turned off from a good brand.
I've never read one of these threads asking if the knife they just bought is a fake from a supporting member of this site. In the future, buy from dealers that support this site and you'll know you're getting the real deal.

Like I said I had an amazon gift card that paid for most of this knife so I was kind of stuck with amazon. I would have preferred another retailer or seller. I wasn't saving any money as the knife was the same price everywhere else. Little risk from amazon when it's from them directly, it wasn't a 3rd party seller. Worst case I return it and they credit me back the money as soon as it's in the mail.

Stop buying from Amazon and eBay... That's one way to get ripped off. Even legit sellers might sell off clones if a customer returned a clone instead of the legit knife.

Support bladeforums and its authorized dealers or the exchange on bf.

When I get gift cards for Amazon I use them for everything else except for knives

I don't buy knives from Amazon and on ebay, only cheaper knives (like under $40).
Bottom line, reputable dealers for reputable knives.

Sell your amazon card for cash on craigslist next time. Then put the money towards a better dealer. Usually you have to list them for about 75% of the value of the card.

All the fake Zt 452s that I have seen didn’t have those little diagonal lines milled into the lockbar cutout. (That little scoop out of the titanium under the clip) yours looks real to me from what I see but honestly more pictures would help. It can be very hard to tell a fake from just one shot of the ti side as the fakes are getting quite close these days. Please provide more pics with the blade open and the cf side

You can’t make blanket statements about Amazon and eBay. Sure sponsoring dealers are safer but most Amazon sellers are dealers. And the Bay gives you tools to check reputation. Just be smart about auctions and do your homework.

The best way to get a good price on a knife is to use this site’s exchange.

That looks like the real deal to me. It does look like they went with the 0452Ti milled scale for the 0452CF model now. Maybe that's something new they have changed.
