I picked up this nifty folding knife at a fair recently, yet i cant tell if its made out of bone or ivory. Im not really willing to do the hot pin test for fear of burning it if it is bone. Anyone have a keen enough eye to help?

How much did you pay? How old is or isn't it?

But yes, I'd say bone.

Welcome.
Not an expert but Ill go with bone:)
Thanks for your input! :)

Look at it under magnification. If you can see pores in the surface it’s most likely bone.

Sadly i don't have one, but i shall invest in one. Any recommendations?

Yep, I was thinking bone myself.
Thanks! :)

Unsure of age, and i spent like...at most £5 on it (thats like 7 dollars)

Betting camel bone.

I've built quite a few knives with camel bone handles. Thats what it looks like to me. The yellowish streak on the one side is pretty characteristic.
