Hello
I need to buy a good , cheap machete .
I've seen on ebay some US Army machetes that look just this lone.
Except this one has got only "MACHETE" carved on the blade , the ones on ebay were like ontario knife or other things carved on the blade.
That one looks the same too :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQhwbR2a2X4
This is the one i found for sell for bout 30$ - is it some kind of original?Military surplus?or its somehow good?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

I'm sure ill be proven wrong but US army machetes are made by Ontario knife I believe.

MACHETE uhmm.....2 + 2 = 5? Ontario Mil Spec 2 + 2 = 4 :)

Hope it turns out good for you though. There's tons of good machetes available.

looks fake, i just checked mine.

you might want to look at the condor golok.
or look at a fiddleback machete if you can spend a little more.

For the OP. My last post was kidding but meant to be true. I have 2 machetes that aren't Ontarios and they cut like h*ll. Beside, I've heard that the Ontarios weren't that great when I posted a thread about what brand to buy a couple of guys steered me off the Ontario and towards some others.

What's important is how it performs right? :)

Condor Machetes : Checked
I think Its too expensive .I wanted to buy a cheap work tool which would be a support to my khukri machete (8mm thick) so i can cut reed/nettle and other easy to cut, tall grassy things.
So im trying to find a shop where the shipping cost isnt high and i can choose from those cheaper machetes (imacasa , tramontina, marbles).
Also im Trying to find something good in Poland .
What do u think bout Miltec machetes?

sorry man.
i guess this is where my advice runs out.

good luck bro. hope you find something that works for you.
allen.

I'll consider making my own machete.
Im gon try to look out for a 2-3mm thick leaf spring.

That appeared to be a link to a Russian? site that sells machetes. Are they illegal in Poland? If not I'm sure you can find a decent machete in your country or in the surrounding countries and escape the heavy shipping charges. Maybe not? It's not like you're buying some high precision instrument - it's just a machete. Anything with a decent steel and handle should work out well. :) Here ya go http://www.asmc.de/ru/Knives-Tools/Machetes/US-GI-machete-p.html

In our country almost every blade is legal :D
Only thing we cannot keep , are hidden blades.
For example a blade hidden in a lighter or a pencil.
There Are no more restrictions :D
Edit:I cant find shops around pl that offer machetes : /
That shop is german .

Please remember to keep the RC <55 to avoid edge breakage. You will find a lot of machetes run ~45. A machete should be easy to touch up with a file - if it isn't then you've made the edge too hard. IMO 2-3mm is going to give you more of a chopper than a machete unless you are able to thin it down considerably

For lightweight tasks I like the Martindale/Crocodile machetes.

Why not get one of the Martindale Machetes out of England? They've got all kinds of shapes, lengths, etc and the prices are pretty reasonable.
