Is this normal patina?

Hey everyone. My old man asked me to help clean his Spyderco Caly 3.5 and this is the best I could do. I put a reasonable amount of baking soda, some water, and then dry wiped the blade immediately after. Managed to remove most of the surface rust, but it still has that apocalypse finish. Does this look normal?

In terms of function though, she’s 100% mission capable. Cuts like a dream.

That is barely a patina for Super Blue. It has a long way to go. If it ever needs sharpening I would sharpen it right. If you don't really know how I would recommend the Spyderco Sharpmaker with the optional Diamond rods. That knife is too hard for the standard rods I think.

Thanks for the feedback, man. I’ll keep the Sharpmaker in mind.

Oh boy... don't clean it up too much. It is coming along nicely ... :D

I'm no expert on super blue but I've seen others look like that. I'd vote normal too FWIW.

Your dad picked a good one. The Caly 3.5 is a great knife.
