During the eighties actor Paul Hogan played an Australian character known as Mick “Crocodile” Dundee who is bushman that falls in love with a woman from New York. In the film, Crocodile Dundee utters a famous movie line that states: “That’s not a knife. This is a knife.” Dundee was referring to the large sized knife that he usually carries around with him. He was being confronted by a group of knife wielding hoodlums when he spoke this line. The knife that it is used in both Crocodile Dundee films is considered a hunting or Bowie knife.
The Dundee knife was created by an Australian gunsmith named John Bowring. He was approached by the studio that produced Crocodile Dundee film and asked to make an original knife for the Dundee character. Bowring agreed and produced the famous Dundee knife.

The closest knives you can buy today as a production knife is Down Under Knives Outback Bowie. It is apparently a decent knife but it is WAAAAY over priced considering it is actually made in China. They try to hide this though.

Not saying they're all like this, it may have been a lemon but, I saw a video some dude made where he was using the Down Under Knives version in the bush and the pommel broke right off the handle w/ what I wouldn't even classify as hard use. And yes, they are also overpriced imo.
That Svord was one of several (like CS 1917) i looked over in favor of my uncle's movie-knife appeal. There used to be some dip-turd whole came on here extolling the virtues off DUK knives and how they were his favorite but then admitted he never owned one. Can’t recall his name.
If I wanted a Bowie with an Aussie flair, I’d look at the Svord VonTempsky.
All that said, and realizing that nobody was looking for a suggestion here, I’ll just say, Croc Dundee is a total classic.
seriousbladedude or something like that. He had several threads about the DUKs. That kid had problems. Search for them and you will see. The knives are over priced junk made in china, commissioned by a European company, and marketed as Australian. The company has been banned here several times for shilling their products. Anyone with any care for this hobby should stay far far away from this brand. And yes, anything from Svord is much much better. There used to be some dip-turd who came on here extolling the virtues off DUK knives and how they were his favorite but then admitted he never owned one. Can’t recall his name.
