For those that have/have had both, what is your preference?

Is there a big difference between the two? I heard the II had some improvements but wanted to get some real input.

Thanks!

I prefer the Izula. I don't like the smaller hole in the end of the handle of the Izula II and I don't like the "forced" micarta handles. I would prefer to buy an Izula and put my own handles on it......same with the Izula II. I can't with the Izula II so I have to pay for the micarta handles and then shit-can them just put put something on I want. Because of this I prefer the Izula.

The Izula II isn't even 1/2" longer. The handle is like 3/8" longer and IMO it is not worth the price.

I got the bladehq fire red izula.. bought a set of g10 handles off the bay and love the sucker, red and black is a fav color combo of mine

I liked my Izula II over the regular version. I liked the scales and I could get a better grip on the knife. The only difference is the half inch or so of length with the II and it comes with scales.

Exact same thing here - love the red on black. If you want the lanyard/accessory hole at the end, you can also get micarta grips that leave the full hole at the end.

I use an Izula w/o scales as a neck knife and another w/scales as a waist band hide out. Don't carry them everyday but they are in my rotation.

I use an Izula II w/after market scales in one of my BO bags and another in my daily carry bag.

They both serve different needs but most is just personal preference. Both are great little knives.

My vote would be for an Izula ii... They are the same knife, but for me, the longer handle on the Izzie ii makes a world of a difference. I didn't like the gaping finger hole, so I added custom scales...

The Izula II feels a lot better in my hand, but the scales make it a bit heavy and thick for concealed carry. I suppose you could take off the scales and wrap it in paracord if you want to minimize the footprint. The Izula II is my choice

Izula II all the way. I don't understand why anyone would want a knife that doesn't even fit in their hand. They should discontinue the first version IMO, different strokes I guess.

I greatly prefer the Izula II over the Izula. Grips that cover the entire handle of the Izula improve it quite a bit but good grips on the Izula II still make it stand out to me. The 2nd knife from top down has the custom grips from TKC which are my favorite.

I've had both. The two that I have now are both the original version. One stays attached to my emergency kit behind my seat. The other one is carried in a KSF pocket sheath. I like the original better because of the shorter handle. It's easier to pocket carry. The handle length is the only difference. I have some T-K-C aftermarket scales on my pocket sheath Izula and they give it a much better feel than a cord wrap or the factory micarta scales.

While I prefer the handle of the II, I liked that the I fit in my shorts cargo pockets. Great for summer carry.

I agree. Just got in an Izula II, Eskabar, and Becker Necker. The Eskabar has the Izula I handle if I am not mistaken. I can tell the difference, even with aftermarket scales on it. The Izula II handle is much more comfortable for long periods of use.

The II gave me a full grip on the knife which makes a difference when you use the knife for anything beyond edc tasks. I gave away the original version.

I have 2 Izulas and 1 II and prefer the II for actual use. I have the ESEE scales, aftermarket scales, and paracord wraps for my Izulas but the II still feels better.

I have 3 Izulas, and just got an Izula II in the mail today, and I have to admit, the extra handle length is nice. 2 of my Izulas have handles from The Knife Connection and that improves them a great deal. Izula II is hard to beat though.
