I'm shopping around for a gift for my dad for Christmas and was hoping for some ideas.

He always carries a small swiss 2 blade pocket knife. The one with the super slim design and plastic sides. Really small and light.

I was thinking of getting him something a bit nicer that will be fairly comparable in size and pocketability. I found the James Brand Elco and think that fits the bill, but was hoping to buy something made in the usa. The spydercos are nice, but I think he would want something more subtle.

Any ideas would be great!

If you are talking about SAK Classic size, I think the recent GEC #19 Rattler should be a pretty good fit. Another option is Case knives Peanut pattern, which they are small and slim in profile, easy to carry. These may not be as 'modern' looking as James Brand design, but they surely are great Traditionals loved by many.

Elko has a blade length around 1.7-ish inches. Modern traditionals generally don't have 2 blades, and the ones that do tend to be a little bigger (e.g., main blade on LionSteel BestMan 2-blade is 2.875"). There are options in the more traditional patterns from US-made brands, like a Case Peanut or Butterbean, but I don't know that you'll find a small, multi-blade modern traditional that's made domestically.

Thanks all!

Appreciate those ideas. The rattler would probably work. Seem pretty hard to come by though. Will have to search around. Buck and case are on the list too. I guess I should clarify, a one blade knife would be fine.

Thanks for all the recommendations and help. I did some more searching and found some cool ones from Christy and northwoods. Not sure that he would like the open casing on the Christy though and northwoods are pricy and out every where...
