I have a knife I bought with an objectionable gap betwixt guard and blade. Brass. I was thinking to mix brass filings with clear JB Weld instead of the steel dust and hopefully not have it look too awful. Any thoughts?
My first thought was to fill it with molten pewter, but thought the silver in the gap of the brass guard would be fugly.

There's usually a whole lot of things you can do before JB Weld. If it has screws, try loosening them and fixing the gap. You may need to grind around the knife to flush everything up.
What about sending it in for warranty?
Please post before and after photos if you do JB Weld it...

I would try and keep JB weld as the last resort for a fix.

On my users I JB Weld the guard to the blade. I don’t want water collecting in there.

If you use masking tape (I didn’t) on the guard and the blade, you can end up with a joint that looks similar to a soldered guard.

JB is the way to go. Insanely strong and fills great. I would clean the gap with acetone first just be sure not to get it on anything that can be affected by it. Once clean the JB will adhere like it's one piece. I have not tried the clear with matching material but it should work. Easy to do a pre test to see how it looks.
