Hi all,

Forgive my exuberance, but I'm so thrilled with these knives that I wanted to show them off a bit...

I was able to pick up two incredible Hossom fighters this year (which Jerry had professionally photographed, so no iPhone pics :D)

First, a tanto Vengeance, ivory micarta (I have a small but steadily growing collection of white handled Hossoms) and a 10.5" blade of CPM154. Like all Hossom blades, this one is well balanced, light and very fast:

Next is another Vengeance, beautiful and deadly, redwood burl handle scales, 7" blade of DLC coated CPM3V:

If you didn't get a chance to make it by the table early, Jerry had a great selection of large knives this year (perhaps more than I've seen in the 8 years that I've attended the big show.). Of course, they didn't last very long, but it was certainly a thrill to see them gathered on the table all at once, even if only momentarily.

I'd encourage anyone who hasn't handled Jerry's work to make an effort to get to his table. Hossom knives are gorgeous, but IMO they FEEL even better than they look. He works hard to make them functionally perfect, and that effort is readily apparent upon handling.

In my excitement I neglected to get a full table shot, but here's a few more professional solo shots:

This one is massive. I don't recall the exact name or specs, but it is more sword-like. It actually belongs to Tuhon Ray Dionaldo, who handles it like a feather:

One more --- another huge vengeance, over 10" blade, but weighing in at only 15.1 ounces! This one was very hard to put down, it just felt so right.

Jerry is a great maker, and an even better person. I feel incredibly fortunate --- not only to have picked up these two splendid knives, but also to have spent some quality time with the Hossom clan. THANKS Jerry, it was certainly a memorable show.

i hope you all enjoy the pics :)

Man-o-man! They all look like beautiful perfection. Reason enough to attend the show. I'd love to reach through the Internet and experience one - or all. Thank you for the great pictures and congratulations for yours. Now I'll go wipe the slobber off of my keyboard. Mike

Thanks Mike! The Blade Show really is worth the trip. I had a very hard time justifying the expense the first year, but it's turned into a family tradition for us. My teenage girls wouldn't hear of being left behind! Hope you get to go if you've not been.

Hey Eli.....I love Jerry's grinds, and these are great gets, but the lack of guard/bolster of some sort of metal has always aesthetically put me off on big fighters like these.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I understand. He's reluctant to do bolsters, at least not very often. I have a couple of them, and they are gorgeous.

Here's one I had engraved (by Jody Muller):

Jerry told me he has a couple blades nearing completion that are set up for bolsters, but was unable to finish them for the show. I'll try to get some pics up when he gets to them

Thanks for photo's Eli. Love the way you carried out the sheath decor on the bolster, sweet elegance.

Jerry Hossom, imo, is one of the best knife maker/designers of our time.

Eli, it is always a highlight of my show when you and the family show up, and I'm especially grateful for your watching my table when I'm off grabbing a smoke or just chatting with other makers at the show. I should add for others here that Eli also brings with him several knives from his collection so I always have something on my table to show. I happen to have a photo of the knife he's shown above. It's my understanding that Boker has this knife scheduled for production sometime this year, don't know exactly when. In any case, thanks for the kind comments. They are always appreciated since all I usually see are the flaws.

No need to appologize. We all appreciate the look and its understandable to be extremely excited. I do it all the time! =)

Nice stuff, and some of those are real badass.

Interesting btw, I have never noticed or seen a bolstered version.

Wow Mr Hossom Your knives have a flow that is unlike anything else ive seen! Really fantastic work

Thanks for all the compliments.

Jerry, watching your table is a joy -- especially when people think I made the knives. I tell them the truth of course, eventually ;)

^^^ That's some cool work! I'm a fan of Jerry's as well. Eric (?) did an exceptional job capturing their lighting and flow. Just right.

This is one of those instances that, for me, less may be more. There is enough flow and protection in the scale guards for my liking. I would prefer them like above than with bolsters. I could be convinced, though. :)

Good post. Congrats!

Coop

Like Steven, I generally prefer a guard/bolsters in a fighter however this is an exceptional knife where the blade flows perfectly into the handle.
The grinds so crisp and clean.
