Pretty good flick. But I don't know how good the dubbing was. Seems like half the time all the subtitles said was "thats great!" Some of the acting was awful, but Jet Li was excellent in it. The fight scenes were good if not great. They "claimed" that it was all real and no wires, etc., but I don't know how some of the things were physically possible. Also, quite a bit of swordplay and other weapons.

Jet Li is supposedly a real WuShu master from early 1900s who fights to show that the Chinese are not the "weak men" of Asia.

One thing had me confused, and I won't spoil it, but they didn't spend any time developing the "bad guys" until the very end.

One neat thing. Nathan "Megaman" Jones was Hercules O'Brien, a guy that Jet Li fought. The guy is immense. He used to be in the Worlds Strongest Man competitions so he is the "real deal" when it comes to being a strong guy. I think he's like 6'10" 400 pounds of muscle. If I remember correctly, Magnus Samuellson broke his arm in an arm wrestling match.

He also was in the WWF for a while, but he wasn't a good "worker"

I saw this movie yesterday and loved it. The "no wires" claim is total BS of course. There are a couple of scenes that are obviously wire work, especially the scene where Jet Li is beating some dude's ass on top of a tower.

The fights were excellent and the story was remarkably good for a kung-fu movie. I've heard that this is Jet Li's last movie. If that's true this is a must-see because Jet Li is the last great straight-up kung fu star. Jackie Chan is still around but he's becoming more of a comedian than a martial artist these days.

Jet Li may be leaving, but Tony Jaa is just coming on the scene. This kid is very good, although Muay Thai style. "Ong Bak" was pretty good with lots of action. If you get the chance watch the original Thai version. The english translations are much more accurate and appropriate. It appears they were toned down for American audiences(ratings???) I haven't seen his new movie "The Protector" yet, but looks like it has a lot of action.

I really liked the story of "Fearless", although they made the Japanese Judo guy more honorable than he apparently was in history.(I liked the portrayal, btw)The real life character was poisoned by his Japanese doctor after he defeated the dr.'s entire judo school in a match.

*I* was supposed to compete in the arm wrestling, but they wouldn'tlet me take my ball peen hammer in the ring with me.

I went to see it,nothing great, slants history. As for the martial arts......PLEASE!! :jerkit: But this is the Movies.Only thing missing was the flying!LOL!
THE DUCK!

Why is this his "last" film. I was just wondering.

Actually, as I understand it, its not his last movie. Its his last "kung fu" movie. I guess he's trying to move into more mainstream type movies. He seems like a pretty good actor, but not doing wushu in his movies is like John Wayne not shooting somebody in his movies.

Actually there's another great gongfu guy still in the business besides Jet Li. He's Donnie Yen... u guys familiar with him?? He's really good!!!
