Trapline
8.25 inches OAL
4 inch blade
1/8 01 steel
Bloodwood handles
Stainless pins

Im going to get straight to the point with this one.
The Trapline is a WOOD MONSTER. It simply devours wood hard wood, soft wood, green wood, dry wood. It makes them all seem like room temperature butter.
You like slicing fine curls?
No problem. This knife will slice little curls so fine that you could read a newspaper through them.
You want big slices taken off with one stroke?
Again No problem. In fact you may never have to baton again, but itll do that too.
You need to make a walking stick, tent pegs, small game traps or a spear?
Check. Check. Check. And check.
Itll do all that and much more. And it does it with an ease that will put a big smile on your face.
This knife absolutely should be on your short list of knives to get. If it isnt, you are doing yourself a disservice.
It really is that good.

When I think of the term bush-craft this is the knife that immediately springs to my mind. Not only does it look the part, it simply excels at those tasks most often associated with the term.
John says this is his most used knife. Given the fact that he can have any knife he wants to make, that is a rather bold statement and one helluva endorsement.
The fit and finish is spectacular beautiful lines and a hand-filling handle that makes this knife seem like an extension of your own hand. And Johns heat treatment means youll have a blade that will withstand abuse that most of us wouldnt dream of putting our knives through. Browse his forum and youll find threads where his knives have chopped bricks, cut metal hoods and endured a lifetimes worth of heavy abuse in a matter of hours.
Not that Id treat my knife in such a manner. But it is reassuring to know that itll take it (and beg for more) if I needed it to.
The Trapline is listed on Johns website at a starting price of $155.00. That is an absolute bargain beyond belief. In fact Ive got knives from other makers that are popular and very well thought of that cost significantly more than the Trapline and arent nearly as good of a knife. Now that I own a Trapline and know how great this knife is I wouldnt hesitate to buy one if John doubled his price.
The Trapline is that good.

It might be the best knife John makes. And that is saying something when you consider how great his other models are.
Mark my words. There will be many others, who own the Trapline, singing its praises. You should do yourself a big favor and order one while John has them ridiculously underpriced. Hes got a wide assortment of handle choices and hell grind yours the way you want (mine is a scandi grind).
I think my next Trapline will have Ebony handles and a convexed grind.
What will yours be?
