Got these this morning on my way to work and didn't get a chance to check them out until I got home. They are big knives but very ergonomic. I have big hands so the handle fits me well. They have been very well taken care! I won't be able to test them out until Sunday but here are some pics tonight. Workin' hard of course.
The picture delivery method will get better. I'll figure it out in the test section.
Got a quick chance to test the knives out. I didn't have as much to clear out as I had thought from my back yard, but I had a little fun swinging the kukri and beast.
I had some light over growth in the dog run area.
Both the beast and the kukri went right through that light stuff super easy. As for ergonomics I think I preferred the kukri. Growing up my dad had a kukri that he had gotten while he was in Vietnam. He traded a carton of cigarettes for it. I am way more familiar with the feel of the top heaviness. They both felt great in the hands though.
Next is my food prep for my dinner tonight and premade for tomorrow.
The Kukri isn't the best knife for kitchen use. Going through the pizza involved slicing more so than cleaving. Not as accurate.
On the other hand, the beast is awesome in the kitchen! The pizza was no match and had the precision to cut the pizza evenly.
One last picture. I had a spare 4x4 out in the back yard.
The beast was a chopping "beast". Deeper with the same amount of effort on both.
A little closer look at the beast. Its the cut closest to the handle.
Closer look at the kukri.
Once again, these were somewhat controlled cuts. I wasn't trying to split them in one swing. Cause I totally could have .
last but not least......
I wont be able to do another review. Today was my last day off. Thanks to everyone for letting me be apart of this passaround and I really love these knives. Heavy but very useful and the convexish edge is super sharp. It won't cut thin tomato slices but they'd have no problem thickly slicing zombies or steaks.
I really loved the kukri, it reminded me of my dads knife as a kid but I think the beast is the most useful type of everyday knife.
Well I'm pretty computer challenged (still using Windows XP, without some service pack so I can't download Microsoft Movie Maker) but I managed to edit some video in Picasa. It took half a day but I posted my first video to you tube! I had a time trying to get it to 10 minutes, so it cuts off rather abrupt, but have a look anyway. Let me know what you think.
