I just bought the stainless steel version of the peanut lighter from County Comm! I can wait!:D:grumpy:

I was just wondering for the people who have them, can you just use, like BBQ lighter fluid?

and what do you guys think of the peanut lighter?

i have both models..

very nice tools for sure...i have the ss in my pocket now...

i use the ronson zippo type fluid.. cheap and plentiful.

DO NOT USE CHARCOL STARTER!!!

it really depends on you.

if it is used expressly for a back up bob type lighter i had one hold fuel for three good burns for 1 year.

if everyday..about a week based on your use of it.

So I can't see why it couldn't (without ANY use) hold the fuel for, well ever...? is this true? or would the fuel or the stuffing break down?

um....the atmosphere...:)

really..like i said i only got three good burns before it would only spark...so not being a scientist and all i can only speak from my expierience

BTW, a little tip regarding peanut lighters. I had problems getting them to light on the first try - usually took 3 or four twists of the wheel. If this happens to you, try using 2 flints, to increase pressure. Works for me and the tip came from the guy I bought them from.

evaporation will occur no matter what....unless you live in a vacuum....

I agree that it will eventually evaporate...no seal is perfect; however, I had a peanut lighter (one of the first generation models) that I had filled and forgot. It sat in my closet for about 8 months and is still mostly full and works just great.

wonder if you supper glued the crap out of it, if it would still go away??

I've had mine in my truck for a year now and it still lights on the first and only filling I ever gave it; even after sitting in the heat all summer. I can't remember where I got it, but it was someone on this forum that was making them. I think they sent a card with them, I'll have to check and look for it. They were very inexpensive, had flat bottoms and were made of aluminum. I ordered 4 of htem and he sent extra flints and o-rings with them. Wish I could remember who it was...

Edit: it was forum member Oregon I got them from. I don't know if he still makes them, but I love the ones I got from him.

I got the one from countycomm too! its so awesome! Im also curious how long the feul would last in it.

Don't go supergluing it, thats totally unnecessary.
I carry one on my key chain i filled it up 6 months ago and its still lights.
Every now and then i fire it up just to see if its dry.
I have a second one in my pack that was filled up about a year ago haven't used it since
....hold on
...... yup still works.
If you use it frequently then of course you will need to refill it more often, lol.

Countycomm have a video on youtube where they kept one in a water filled bottle for a month then took it out and it lit up no problem.

As much as i love Zippos they all run dry relatively fast, even without use.

They have been shelved since i got the peanuts.

Unless you 'ranger band' them. And the ranger bands can also be used as a fire accelerant.

th, it gets cold where you live. See if you can light your peanut with cold hands after they have lost the fine motor ability. A Zippo can be opened by running it down your jeans and it can be lit the same way. This can be done with gloves on.

Besides, in a pack, how much room or weight is involved with a can of lighter fluid?

I'm not knocking the peanut lighters. I also bought 4 from Oregon and they work quite well, but if I'm out in temperatures where things can turn blue , I'll take a Zippo everytime.

Hey try taking that rubber band off with cold hands! :D that sounds harder....

In regards to a BOB...

it raining, its cold your life depends on it, but what? your zippos dry!!!! now you have to use your precious, life depending time, to fill it!!! not fun!

And surviving is what you have on you (usually) how often do you carry a can a fluid with you? I do know of those portable fuild containers though. might as well get a peanut... THERE CHEAPER!:D
