does anybody know the significance of it...sorry no giveaway for the right answer, and no google-fu.:D

North Korea to the north of it South Korea to the South. During the Korean war American and South Korean forces managed to push the North Korean almost to the Chinese border, China didn't like that to well so they sent in troops. They pushed back down to the 46th parrallel and eventual a cease fire was ordered on both sides. We still have troops guarding the the 46th parrallel today.

edit to add: :D no google or search engines here, also would have responded sooner but just seen this post.

Edit to add: I'm running slow today, thats the 38th

Washington/Oregon border ??? Or are you coming back down from Idaho with an RC10 to show from Rowen ? :)

Isn't there a place called Canada north of the 46th?

Edit: Since you are from Michigan, it could be one of the great lakes I suppose. Or the UP. Hmmmmm....

Now I'm tempted to pull out my atlas. Mrs. Rotte went to some little school in Ann Arbor for a while, so I feel I should know this.

Some fun facts:

Find the capital of Oregon and trace a path east in a globe and you are exactly at 45 degrees North, halfway between the top of the world and the equator.

Rugby, North Dakota is the exact geographic center of the North American continent.

Canada's southern most border runs roughly at 49 degrees North.

The Korean DMZ is at the 38th parallel North. The weather in South Korea is routinely worse than in Oregon, both summer and winter, as more or less accurately depicted on M*A*S*H of all things.

hahah just learned about this like last month the 46th Parallel is where North korea is connected to South Korea

You're learning it wrong then. No recognized part of N. Korea extends even as far north as the 43rd parallel.

Join the Navy son, you'll learn your geography until it hurts.

The DMZ which divides North and South Korea is on the 38th Parallel. I've been there and it's a very uncomfortable feeling of high tension!

I thought squids just recognized the tropics, the equator, the prime meridian, and the poles. After that, it's just water in front, water on the left, and water on your right. Oh, yeah, water behind.

Gotta be able to burst off where you sank. LOL.

Ok, seriously, you're going into Windsor for some fine wimmin's company for profits? :p

Really though...I'm out of answers without powers.
