As you can see from the pic I got a Benchmade Black Class Bedlam Auto, its ok considered returning it but its discontinued has No Blade Play at all, and centering is flawless, Decided to keep it. But FOR EDC purposes the curved blade is just not practical and I've almost hurt myself with it because the sharpest point is facing back up towards you. Not great for Getting through the average daily Box that needs opening or even Rope at odd angles or punctures the tip is just at an odd angle. Its probably the best "fighting knife" for modern day slashing techniques. Long great reach. but for daily chores no way its gonna be a safe queen.

But I would like a Good Benchmade Black Class or other Automatic (they are legal here in FL) any ideas.

The 8600 Auto Bedlam is not discontinued. It's the manual version ( 860 ) that is. Just letting you know for informational purposes. Still a very nice knife to have if you like auto's. But like you said more of a "fighting" blade design then EDC.

If your really intent on an auto I'd recommend the AFO II. The blade design's (Tanto or Drop Point) are much more suited for utilitarian purposes / uses. I used to have one briefly that I gifted but was very impressed by it.

BM recently did a test video of the AFO II and it's very impressive to say the least and may be more suited for your needs.

Hope this helps.

Edit to add: The Contego is my favorite currently in production readily available BM knife. A real stand out in my opinion and very well suited for many tasks. I'd highly recommend it. It also happens to be a Black Class.

Best of luck!

Decided to go with a Contengo Plain Edge

Excellent choice! I really like that model on a lot of levels and for many reasons. The CPM-M4 steel, reverse tanto blade design, Axis lock, and the ergo's work very well for me. Not to mention, at it's price point I really don't think you can find a finer knife for the price.

Hope it works for you and all the best!

Just had chance to hold a Contego and it's a great knife. I also appreciate the modified Wharcliffe blade shape that is becoming more and more accepted for it's great cutting power and usefulness in a variety of tasks. My only beef with it was the scales are definitely not designed with hard use in mind without gloves.

If you want a great EDC knife, there is a great knife to be found in the 710 and it's much friendlier on the hands if your don't habitually wear gloves. It has been a flagship knife of Benchmade for a number of years now, and that's certainly not because it sucks.

Yeah just having BladeHQ swap them out I tried to love the Bedlam but its like not user friendly

I have a Benchmade 9050 Auto. they do not make it anymore but have a 9051 the is the replacement. I have had my knife for seven years now. I have no troubles with it at all. Just my two cents.
