Just received this beauty and wanted to...well...let you guys know :D

Even though I really like the knife, it's going back to Case because the stag on one side is really sub par.
A part of the scale broke when it was drilled for the back pin, or when they peened the pin.

I must say I find the stag on the other side gorgeous...I wish I could keep this side :D

Also, the knife is sharp as a crow bar. Not a deal breaker since I always reprofile the blades on new knives,
but getting a useable edge out of the box would be nice once in a while.

I'll let you know of the outcome; I'm confident Case will stand behind their product.

The nice side:

Thats a shame, the medium jack is one heck of a knife, but I'd send her back to.
Hope it won't take too long, keep us posted.

Nice photographs by the way.

That will be a dandy when you get it back, its a great pattern.
I agree, the Stag on one side looks great and I'm surprised it got out the door
like that. In the past Case has been great about taking care of problems, although it is sad when you get a new knife and have to ship it back out.
It may not make any difference, but you might include a note with your knife, asking if they can try to match the new Stag scales to the good one on your knife.
You may luck out and they may be able to reuse the nice scale. On the few knives that I have sent to them, they told me that sometimes they can reuse the scales

Nice one there, Pierre!

I wanted to help re-enforce your confidence in Case's repair service.

I sent this Congress back to them earlier this year because the mark side scale had a crack in it.(not visible in the photo)

They did a pretty darn good job and got it back to me in about 2 weeks. I only had to pay for shipping back to them and the knife was returned with the pile side scales untouched.

The replacement scales do look a little different than the original one but overall I am glad I sent it back.

Thanks

I contacted the seller (well know Case e-store...you know...funny name like a preacher on a slope or somethin' ;)) and they'll hand pick me another one upon return. I didn't even have to contact Case :)

Excellent! Much faster turn around time most likely.

Who knows, you might get one with even better Stag.

Here's wishing you luck!

It took me a minute to figure that one out :D But it was an almost 14 hour day at work today, so I'm a little slow.

I'll be waiting to see the pics of your new one

Howdy folks!

Happy new year to all :D

With the holiday period I finally had time to snap some pics of the replacement knife the dealer sent me. I'm glad to report the new one is awesome! The communication with them was easy; they took care of me efficiently and professionally. I doubt I'll be buying Case knives from elsewehere from now on

The only (very) minor issue I can see on this one is the edge grind on the main blade, especially at the point which is quite rounded. Fortunately it's not a big deal at all, since this can easily be fixed with a good sharpening session :D

Enjoy:

A CV beauty, isn't she?

That one looks great. The Stag is well matched and a lot nicer looking imho... The swell looks nicely matched too. Its a great pattern, and with the fatter Stag it should be a good fit in hand.

Sounds like you had a great experience with the dealer. Thats always good to hear

Other than the safety point on the clip, that is awesome!!! That little defect is easy to deal with. Great looking knife. I love those Texas jacks. - Ed

Nice one!
I've never seen Case etched into the stag before. How long has Case been doing that? Looks nice.

Knice one Default.
Mick think this is first series w/logo lasered into stag.
Probably their way of making the stag cv series
easily recognizable.

I also got same 52032 cv for Christmas present.
cv blades have some lines on them, not as
'mirror polished' as my older cv blades.
Slight gap between spring and liner on one side
but those are only gripes I have with current
state of Case fit & finish.
Not complaining, just observing & absorbing.
